It was a rare, peaceful evening at Taylor's house. Tree had come over to discuss some upcoming projects and ensure everything was on track, but instead of getting right to work, they had decided to take it easy. The fireplace crackled in the background, casting a cozy glow over the room as the faint hum of music filled the air. Taylor had wandered off somewhere in the house, and Tree found herself scrolling through her phone on the couch, relishing the rare moment of calm.

But calm wasn't exactly Tree's style. After years of working together, her relationship with Taylor had evolved into one full of playful pranks and teasing. And tonight, with Taylor not expecting anything, was the perfect time to inject a little chaos.

Grinning to herself, Tree tiptoed down the hallway toward Taylor's room. She could hear Taylor humming softly, completely unaware of the impending scare. Tree crouched slightly, heart pounding with excitement as she prepared to jump out and give Taylor the fright of her life.

But just as she was about to leap, everything went wrong—and fast.

Taylor spun around with the kind of speed that only happens in superhero movies. In a blink, Tree's wrist was expertly grabbed and twisted just enough to send her off balance. Before she could even register what was happening, Taylor had knocked her legs out from under her, and the next thing Tree knew, she was face down on the floor with her arm pinned behind her in a perfect martial arts lock.

"WHAT THE—" Tree shouted, barely able to process how she'd gone from pulling a prank to being completely owned by Taylor Swift, of all people.

"Tree?!" Taylor gasped, releasing her hold instantly and stepping back in horror. "Oh my God, I thought you were an attacker!"

Tree groaned, rolling over onto her back and staring up at the ceiling, trying to catch her breath. "An attacker?!" she wheezed, "I was just trying to scare you!"

Taylor stood there, wide-eyed, hands covering her mouth. "I am so sorry! I didn't mean to—well, I didn't know it was you! You scared the crap out of me!"

Tree slowly sat up, still dazed and processing what had just happened. "I scared you? You just ninja'd me into next week!"

Taylor gave her an apologetic smile, but there was a hint of amusement in her eyes. "Yeah, uh... sorry about that. Reflexes, I guess?"

Tree blinked, still piecing together how her carefully planned prank had backfired so spectacularly. "Reflexes? Taylor, you took me down like Batman! Where did you learn that?"

Taylor shifted awkwardly, rubbing the back of her neck. "Well... I guess now's as good a time as any to tell you... I have a tenth-degree black belt in karate."

Tree's jaw dropped. She stared at Taylor in disbelief, mouth hanging open like a fish out of water. "You're kidding, right? You? Karate?"

Taylor chuckled nervously. "Yeah, I started when I was a kid. You know, just one of those things. I kinda kept it up... for a while."

Tree gawked at her, trying to reconcile this new information. "You mean to tell me the same Taylor Swift who trips over her own feet on stage, can't walk without stubbing her toe, and once got tangled in a microphone cord is also a martial arts master?"

Taylor laughed, clearly embarrassed. "I'm not that clumsy!"

"You literally walked into a door last week!" Tree shot back, pointing accusingly.

Taylor shrugged. "Okay, fair. But I'm only clumsy when I'm not paying attention! When I'm focused, I'm... well, you saw."

"Focused?!" Tree sputtered. "You wiped the floor with me like I was an amateur! How did I not know about this?"

Taylor grinned sheepishly. "It never really came up?"

Tree threw her hands in the air, exasperated. "Never came up? You took me down in two seconds flat, Taylor! You're a lethal weapon!"

Taylor laughed harder. "Okay, okay, maybe I should've mentioned it earlier, but where's the fun in that?"

Tree was still shaking her head, unable to fully grasp how this new piece of information fit into her mental picture of Taylor Swift. "You're telling me you've been out here, clumsy and unassuming, and all this time you could've fought off a whole army of ninjas without breaking a sweat?"

Taylor grinned, a playful glint in her eyes. "Well, maybe not a whole army..."

Tree stood up, dusting herself off with a sigh. "Great. Now I have to live with the fact that you could snap me in half any time you want."

Taylor raised an eyebrow. "Oh, please. I would never."

Tree eyed her suspiciously. "You say that now, but what if I piss you off?"

Taylor smirked, trying to hold back a laugh. "I guess you'll just have to stay on my good side."

Tree let out a groan, shaking her head as she threw herself back onto the couch. "Unbelievable. I've been working with a black belt ninja this whole time, and I just find out because I tried to scare you. Classic."

Taylor sat down next to her, still grinning. "Lesson learned: don't sneak up on me."

"Yeah, no kidding," Tree muttered, rubbing her sore wrist. "From now on, I'll announce myself with a marching band. Maybe even a banner."

Taylor laughed, leaning back and relaxing again. "Probably a good idea."

There was a brief silence, and then Tree, still staring at Taylor, couldn't help but ask, "Are there any other secret skills you've been hiding from me? Can you like, pilot a helicopter? Defuse bombs?"

Taylor winked. "You'll have to wait and see."

Tree threw up her hands. "I don't even know who you are anymore!"

They both burst into laughter, and as the night went on, Tree couldn't help but feel a strange mix of awe, confusion, and, let's be honest, a little bit of fear. Because Taylor Swift wasn't just a world-famous pop star—she was apparently a deadly ninja too.
