The battle of Adiviika had been a tough battle between the two armies of Russia and Ukraine however the battle since 2023 had been locked to a stalemate for a long while and not much had happened since the war was locked into a war of attrition and both sides had been sitting at positions with extremely limited gains on both sides however the war hadn't developed into anything major as of 2023 until the battle of Kharkiv and Kyiv was repelled by Ukrainian forces. And with the battle of Adiviika also coming to a stalemate the war hadn't progressed very much elsewhere so it was down to Adiviika to decide the next few months of the war.
At the start of the invasion, Ukrainian forces were not expecting the Russians to attack however the only hint was there was a suspicious increasing amount of Russian troops sitting on the border with Ukraine since December 2021. And by February 24th 2022 Adiviika was already on the front line in the invasion of Ukraine and has been a heavily fortified town in the north of Donetsk city for years because of the nearby separatist states of Donetsk and Luhansk which saw constant violence and fighting for several years.
And now the city remains in a semi-encircled position as the shape of a sailiant. And further news has to be reported on as the fighting remained significant for the next few months and had still remained in a stalemate for some time. Defensive positions of the Ukrainian forces have been able to maintain a strong defence but Russian forces still remain to try and take the town for ages. And as of writing this on October 6th the Russian troops still attempt to take it but multiple attacks have been repelled for the months previous. The forces continue to remain abundant around the town although the rough figures are not available we can say this is roughly between 20,000-25,000 Ukrainian troops and Roughly 30,000 Russian troops around the area of Adiviika since February 2024. However artillery and tank brigades have not been able to hinge out the tough Ukrainian defences and the casualties remain high for both sides but with Russia having the edge for the numerical superiority of troops.
And after intense fighting and extreme artillery shelling of the town, the Ukrainian forces holding it decided to abandon the town of Adiviika because their semi encircled position was not favourable for maintaining the defence of the town and losing 15,000 troops was too costly to have be destroyed. And so little by little, the town was slowly withdrawn from and eventually the Russian soldiers finally crossed the town gates and officially the fall of Adiviika had happened however still to this day, Ukrainian troops have remained strong in the area and haven't planned any counter attacks as of recently but the development of the front has to continue. More on that later...
