Today we see October 18th of 2024 and with the war going to 3 years on the horizon we can see that many things have happened today but most of them are not beyond moderate effects...

Today we shall start in the Kursk incursion, since the beginning of this planned invasion, Ukrainian troops are finding it difficult even with their new reserves arriving to the front. And many of the Russian forces have been able to recapture some key points. The salient remains at high risk for the Ukrainians but still they hold onto the territory for long as possible. Significant fighting continues on the eastern flank of the incursion and Russians have been able to capture small settlements on the way. And in the North, Russian troops have also been able to make a small advance and take the control of the villages of Novaya Sorochina and have entered the village area of Staraya Sorochina. Despite the small advance the defence is holding very well for the Ukrainians and we will need to see further reports in the coming days...

Now to the main Donbas area, some small, minor advances have been made to capture the settlement of Maksymilyanivka (Sorry for the long name...) and have begun to withdraw their remaining units towards the large town of Kurakhove. And also slightly above north to that advance, the Russians had also made a small advance south of Selydove to try and cut the Ukrainian supply route. Which there are two roads, and one has been captured. Whilst to the north of Selydove, they hold a main road called the M04 trying to cut the last major supply link to the town. And finally in the North eastern sector of Ukraine, Russian troops have been able to stampede over the town of Anriivka and now they have entered the village of Vyshneve. Where significant fighting is currently taking place...
