Vuheldar is an incredibly powerfully fortified town that had seen almost two years of the frontline in war. And this town was fortified head to toe with forts, bunkers and ambush traps which the advancing Russian troops would have a hard time getting through the city especially in guerilla warfare tactics from Ukraine. Russia had attempted multiple assaults in 2023 and all of them had been repelled by Ukrainian forces holding the buildings on the town outskirts. And with the high ground around them it was tough to defend against the Russian troops. But never the less, they held onto the town for almost 2 years because of the lack of well equipped and supplied troops and poor layouts for attacks, it caused the Russian assaults to be repelled.

However of recently, September 2024, Russian troops had finally captured the town of Vuheldar after 2 years of stiff resistance against Ukrainian forces. And after the Kursk incursion the previous month, many Ukrainian troops had been diverted to the Kursk incursion and after many troops were lost Russia was able to advance much easier without high casualties. And little by little, the Russians slowly maneuvered around Ukrainian defences and began to threaten the town with the idea of encirclement and this risked over 2000 Ukrainian soldiers being trapped in the town and being slaughtered ruthlessly. So as the Russians planned to force the Ukrainian forces to retreat under pressure of an encirclement. And they flanked both sides and as the window began to close, the Ukrainian troops had began to withdraw from Vuheldar and after 48 hours of retreat and withdrawal the Russians had entered the town and swung their flag high. And renamed the town to Ugledar. And the battle for Vuheldar lasted 1½ years and ended in Russian victory. As of October 11th writing this, Russian troops have also fully secured the terrain around the town and have continued to push forward for some weeks...

Vuheldar was an extremely important stronghold that had some of the toughest fortifications of all settlements in the country and it being able to hold out for 1½ years proved its valiant defence and tough resistance from the defending Ukrainian forces. However Russian tactics and clever plans to flank the defences and to threaten an encirclement forced the Ukrainian forces to leave the town. And after the fall of Vuheldar, the town was renamed to Ugledar. And has remained under Russian control till this day. No further reports on the situation just yet.
