Start writingKitayuu and Raiden were both sent back to the academy 2 weeks after the incident. They had to attend extra classes upon returning to catchup and were also given a lot more homework than the others. Kitayuu and Bennet also tried to spend a lot of their free time training together and improving on their weaknesses.
One day in class, everyone was given some exciting news.
Diluc; "Some of you know that it's already that time of the year, but for those who don't I have something big to share with you guys."
Raiden opened his eyes widely wondering if it is what he thought it was and listened eagerly as Diluc was about to announce the news.
Diluc; "The annual tournament for first year students across Teyvat has been confirmed to take place 5 weeks from now in the nation of Fontaine."
Raiden stood up and slammed both palms onto the desk, his face filled with thrill and excitement. Other students started talking amongst each other.
Barbara; "So the time has come, huh"
Diluc took a minute to settle everyone down to further explain, "Alright, I know a lot of you are excited about this tournament, but for those who don't know anything about this, allow me to provide you with some further information. Everyone will have 5 weeks to train and prepare themselves, you are free to train wherever you want and are not restricted to the academy grounds. Once the date for the tournament draws near, we will all meet back here at the academy. Once everyone is back, we will set off and be escorted by horses and carriages until we eventually will cross the sea from Sumeru all the way to Fontaine. Before the tournament, there will be one round of something completely random that will test your combat abilities. Only the best will come out on top and can proceed to the main tournament. You will also be given a grade on how well you do in the first round to go on your reports."
Kitayuu listened attentively as it was a lot of information to take in. All of a sudden he felt weird. His stomach tightened from nervousness wondering how on Teyvat the tournament was going to play out.
Diluc; "Oh yeah, one thing I wanted to add, since this tournament is taking place in the nation of Fontaine. They have decided to come with a different approach and implement some of their technology."
One student spoke out immediately, "Wait, how will that work? Wouldn't that give people from Fontaine a massive advantage since they already know more or less about their technology? Other nations are still writing letters to eachother and I heard Fontaine uses these things called telephones to instantly communicate. The technology gap is way too massive for us to understand."
Diluc nodded, understanding what he was trying to say, "No worries, the technology will only be used by officials to monitor and keep track of you guys. It will still be the classic combat based tournament we are all used to. I don't even know what that telephone thing you mention is."
"Oh, and I forgot..."
"The Archons from other nations have been invited to spectate"
Raiden's jaw suddenly dropped and other students gasped with shock, "WAIT, I THOUGHT ONLY THE ARCHON FROM THE HOSTING NATION WAS GOING TO SPECTATE!"
Raiden looked down and started breathing heavily and got stuck in his thoughts, 'Dammit... mom will be there...'
Diluc; "Now now, there's no need to be so frightened. I see this as an opportunity to all show off your abilities to the gods. Who knows, maybe you might impress them. Anyways, good luck with your training, class is dismissed."
Kitayuu returned to his room thinking to himself for a moment. Suddenly, Bennet burst open the door, "There you are! Me, Barbara and Noelle are planning to go to Monstadt and train together. Do you wanna join us!?"
Kitayuu looked back at Bennet, but before he could answer, something came into mind.
-Kitayuu's Memories-
Kitayuu then went up to Diluc asking for some feedback. "Well there's a lot to work on for you, but if you wanna train I suggest you find a specific first between Fontaine and Liyue where a huge battle in the Archon war took place many years ago. The elements are harsh with absolutely no signs of life as it was mainly a battle ground between Geo, Cryo and Pyro vision wielders. There's a lot of rocks there that you can try lift or break using your elements. Also try using your elements simultaneously for extended periods of time, but don't go overboard with it." Kitayuu nodded after listening to the advice. "Got it."
-Reality-
"Hello, HELLO!"
"Are you with me?"
Bennet was waving one hand in front of Kitayuu's face until he finally got his attention, "You coming or not?"
Kitayuu looked down feeling a bit guilty, "Uh"
Bennet leaned closer, "YEEEAAAAHHH???"
"Sorry... I can't come"
Bennet immediately grabbed his shoulders and shook him, "WHAT? WHY NOT! WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO DO BACK HERE!?"
Kitayuu; "I've got other plans... for training"
Bennet stopped shaking him and give a little smirk, "Ohhh so you know a secret to get stronger and don't wanna tell us?"
Kitayuu; "No it's not that... I also don't want to rely too much on you guys"
Bennet's smirk widened and took one hand off Kitayuu's shoulder, "See you at the tournament"
Kitayuu smirked back, "You bet"
