The duo has been walking, without a word, for hours. Suddenly, the small person falls to the ground.
"Ahhh, the pain is kicking in now."
Their eyes have returned to their normal state. Rufus nudges him a little.
"Don´t worry, I´ll be fine. It´s nothing too serious."
He rolls up the leg of his pants and reveals a deep cut, on his leg. "That fucker. When did he actually land that hit?"
he scoffs.
"Rufus, can you come closer a little? So that I can reach the bags?"
The wolf comes closer and lays down, beside the witch. Sag reaches into one of the bags and takes out some bandages and other things. He opens a bottle, takes a sip out of it and then pours some of the liquor on his leg, letting out a muffled sound of pain. After that, he tries sewing the wound shut and then bandages it up. He does the same, at the wound on his shoulder.
"Alright, give me like a minute, then we can keep on moving."
He puts back the stuff. Rufus seems to have taken interest on Sag´s little bag, that he carries around. The animal nudges it with his nose and tries opening it, with his paw.
"What?"
The witch opens the nag for him. "What are you searchig for?" Rufus puts his paw on the book, that Sag searched the spells in, a few days back.
"I seem to have magic abilities now, but I don´t think I should try healing-spells yet. It will probably go wrong and in the end, all my limbs will be on my back."
Rufus grunts and keeps lightly hitting against the book, with his paw.
"What? Do you wanna become my pet?"
the witch says jokingly. Rufus stops and looks Sag in the eyes, who´s face is turning to a more serious look.
"Wait, really? Why?"
Too late he realizes that the beast can´t answer that.
"So..you want me to do the spell I've shown you..? The one that binds us together?"
Another long stare into the witch's soul.
"Uhm.., alright. But know that that spell will kinda kill our privacy from one another."
He lays the book on the ground and searches for the page. "Alright.., this will give us like a tattoo thingy, so where do you want that at?"
The beast doesn´t really seem to care about that and just grunts. "Okay, not helpful."
The witch continues reading. After a few minutes, he pushes the book away and stands up. Or at least tries to stand.
"Give me your paw."
The beast seems confused but does as told. Sag takes out his axe and makes a really small cut, in the wolf's paw, before he can even react. The witch earns a growl.
"Hey, you wanted this."
He opens the band-aid, on his shoulder a little and starts whispering something. Rufus can hear it but not understand it. Sag taps his fingers, into the beast's blood and draws a line, up his right arm, not stopping his chant. He does the same, with his own blood, drawing a line beginning from Rufus' eye to the middle of his torso. The blood turns black and fades away from the line, drawing many symbols along Sag's arm and Rufus' body. The drawing, on the witch's body, contains the head of a wolf, above an almost full moon. The beast's drawing contains a witch's hat, underneath a crescent moon. Sag steps in front of his friend.
"I,.... Sag, Sag Island, bind myself to this creature. This bond, I've created, can not be broken by death, curses or any other spell. Only the tied one and the one holding the string, may be able to break this bond."
The witch holds out his hand and, as if he knew what to do, Rufus places his paw in it. The symbols, on their arm and body, glow for a little while and both can feel a sharp pain, that vanishes within seconds. "Alright, this should be done now."
Sag looks at his arm.
"I don't feel anything right now, you?"
Rufus shakes his head.
"Well, guess we'll see what this does, later on. Are you happy now?"
The wolf licks the witch's face, as they are trying to put the book back in their bag.
"Okay, okay, enough affection. Let's get going again. I'm getting tired."
They both start moving but not even a minute later, Sag finds himself on the ground again. "...can you please help me?"
The beast lets out a noise, that almost sounds like a chuckle. He bites into the hood of the robes and heaves his little friend, on his back. The tired witch snuggles into the fur and starts to rest.
