One man gains back his consciousness. Everything is dizzy to him but he can faintly hear the duo talking, as they walk away. He coughs and tries to get up. Blood is dripping down his face and he needs to have one of his eyes closed, to not get it in his eye.
"You will regret that."
He limps back to the city.
"Help! I need help!"
A woman comes by and supports him.
"Oh my lord, what happened?!" "A witch! A witch and his damned beast attacked us! They've killed my friends!"
A little crowd forms around the two. Within it, stands Trevor. The man points at him,
"You!"
Everyone looks at the old man now.
"You work together with them. You´ve helped them and now, they´ve attacked us."
"Trevor, did you really help them..?"
The grumpy man, from the other day, asks.
"What!? Of course not! They aren't like that! They´ve helped me, they wouldn´t go around, killing strangers, like that."
"Of course they would! The person´s a witch! Have you forgotten what they did to us?" "No, but not every person, that uses magic, is like that."
"He almost crashed a house with a tree."
The other man chimes in again.
"Yeah, but he didn´t kill anyone. He´s just a bit reckless."
"He did kill my men. Just like a witch would do it. I say, we get revenge!"
Some of the people start cheering, supporting that idea. "No, you can´t do that! They´re not evil!"
"Trevor, did you know he was a witch, when you took him in?" "That doesn´t matter."
"He got manipulated by a witch!" The crowd becomes silent and everyone stares at Trevor. "What? No. He didn´t do anything to me."
"We can´t believe you. Maybe the witch wanted you to say that. He probably put a spell on you." "No, he did not!"
"Once a man is manipulated by a witch, he can not be saved. We should kill him too."
"What?!"
Even the grumpy man seems surprised at these words and steps in front of his friend.
"No, this is going too far now. Trevor might be a little naive, but he doesn´t deserve death for it. We don´t even know if he got manipulated. Maybe the witch held him hostage."
"No, he-"
Trevor tries to defend Sag once more but gets cut off.
"I found something!"
A younger man runs back to the crowd, holding an ominous book. Trevor´s eyes widen.
"A book by the devil!"
"No, it´s-"
"Where did you find this?"
"In Trevor´s shop."
"So he was practicing witchcraft himself?"
"What!? No! I don´t even have magic abilities."
"Trevor.., is this really yours?"
His friend turns to him, with a worried look.
"Not really. ..I sell that.."
the man, that was just now on Trevor´s side, sighs and shakes his head.
"I can´t do this.."
he leaves Trevor and the rest behind.
"You weren´t manipulated by a monster, you wanted to be one, yourself!"
The crowd agrees and a man grabs Trevor´s arm.
"We´ll kill you first and then the witch."
More cheering from the crowd. More and more hands grab the man and they begin to drag him to the center of the town. Two men hold Trevor, so that he can not flee.
"Hey, stop that! What are you doing?!"
He tries to get free.
"The only right thing."
The man limps forward to Trevor.
"I´m not a witch. You´re making a mist-"
The sound of metal, cutting through flesh, is filling the air. Trevor has lost his voice. Some of the town´s people, question their decision. But it is too late. What's done, is done.
