It's a cold and foggy day outside, making it seem as if the world has been desolated.
Yet the coldness has kept everyone inside, hustled together. It feels far too cold to be a normal October evening.
But colder even is my heart as I notice that something is missing.
Someone...
She must have let go of my hand.
Shit...
The little girl that had been placed in my care...
I lost her!
I curse myself with the worst possible words as I frantically try to find her among the bustling crowd.
What the hell am I going to tell my sister?!
That I lost her precious daughter, because I looked away for a second?
Fuck no!
I have to find her!
I have to find her even if it's going to take the entire night.
Tall people, small people...
Big coats, some still dressed like it's the middle of summer...
Blond hair, black hair, brown hair, all the colors of the goddamn rainbow...
But not the little girl with the brown hair and pink unicorn jacket.
"Hannah?!" I call out to her, inaudible due to the mass of people chattering around me.
"Hannah?!!!!" This time louder, causing some people to look at me, then look away and continue their lively chatter.
I can feel tears creeping just behind my eyelids.
Damnit, not now!
Quickly I scan the area for someone in uniform.
It looks like one of them is standing with their back to me and as fast as I can I rush towards the man and tap him on his back.
"Excuse me..."
He turns to look at me and I immediately notice that I've been mistaken, his clothes only slightly resemble that of someone working here.
"I'm sorry." I quickly say, running another way against the path the crowd is walk, causing me to bump into everyone I see.
He probably wouldn't have heard me anyway.
I go to the check-out, scan my card and quickly leave the busy path behind me.
Dashing towards the information desk I scan my surroundings for someone even slightly resembling my niece.
Empty...
Fuuuuu.....
Am I supposed to find the one on the other side now?
What if she got kidnapped?
Someone just took her hand and they walked together into a train that was about to depart.
God... what if she had fallen onto the rails, with no one to notice her?
Where should I even start?
