[Jay's POV]
Kissing her was a mistake, yet it felt so right. The moment our lips met, I felt a rush of emotions that I had long buried. But reality came crashing down as I pulled away, and I couldn't shake the fear of what this meant.
"What did we just do?" I asked, struggling to regain my composure.
"I don't know, but it felt..." she trailed off, looking equally dazed.
"Complicated," I finished for her, tension thick in the air.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and Sunghoon walked in, his expression shifting from curiosity to shock. "What the hell is going on here?"
I cursed under my breath, caught in a vulnerable moment. "It's not what it looks like," I lied, even though it was.
"Really? Because it looks like you two were about to make out," he said, a smirk forming on his lips.
"Shut up, Sunghoon," I snapped, feeling the heat rise in my cheeks.
"Why? This is hilarious," he laughed. "But seriously, Jay, this isn't the best time for—"
"Enough!" I interrupted, frustration bubbling to the surface. "We're in the middle of something important here."
As Sunghoon left, I turned back to her, anxiety coursing through me. "I didn't mean for this to happen. I didn't want to complicate things."
"Complicate?" she echoed, hurt flashing in her eyes. "You think that's what this is? Just another complication?"
"No, that's not what I meant!" I exclaimed, running a hand through my hair. "I care about you, but this life... it's messy. Dangerous."
"I can handle danger, Jay," she replied, her voice steady but filled with uncertainty. "But can you handle me?"
I stepped closer, wanting to bridge the gap between us. "I don't want to push you away. But I need you to understand what you're getting into."
"I'm not afraid of this life," she said defiantly. "And I'm not afraid of you."
I could see the fire in her eyes, the determination that had drawn me to her from the start. But I was terrified of what that meant for us.
"I just don't want to see you hurt," I admitted, vulnerability creeping into my voice.
"Then don't push me away," she said softly, stepping closer, our eyes locked. "We can face this together."
In that moment, I knew I had to choose: to embrace the connection between us, despite the chaos of our world, or to protect her by keeping my distance.
