[Rina's POV]
The night was heavy with uncertainty. I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, replaying the events of the café over and over. Jay's words echoed in my mind-join us or lose everything.
My phone buzzed, pulling me from my thoughts. It was my father, his voice shaky as he explained the escalating threats from the Park clan. I felt a pang of guilt for even considering Jay's offer.
The following day, I arrived at school, feeling the weight of my decision. As I walked through the hall, whispers followed me. Everyone knew the Park clan, their reputation casting a long shadow over our lives.
"Hey, are you okay?" my friend Mia asked, concern etched on her face. "You look pale."
"I'm fine," I replied, forcing a smile. But inside, I was anything but fine.
After school, I found myself outside the familiar café again, heart racing. I needed to confront Jay and respond to his offer.
When I entered, he was already there, leaning casually against the counter, eyes locked onto me.
"Decided to come back?" he teased, a smirk dancing on his lips.
"I'm here to talk," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
He raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "About?"
I took a deep breath, summoning every ounce of courage. "I want to help."
Jay's expression shifted, surprise giving way to something deeper-interest?
"Are you sure?" he asked, leaning closer. "Once you're in, there's no going back."
I nodded, determination flooding my veins. "I know the risks. But I can't let my family suffer."
"Welcome to the dark side," he said, grinning. "Let's make this interesting."
