Sweet Success

By the end of the day, we had managed to sell more cookies than I could have imagined. People were smiling, taking pictures, and even asking for our social media handles. The bake sale was a disaster, but somehow, it had turned into a success.

As the sun began to set, Jay and I sat on the grass, surrounded by empty plates and leftover treats. I looked at him, feeling a warmth spread through me. "You know, for a mafia leader, you're surprisingly good at this."

He grinned, the tension from earlier fading. "Don't tell anyone. I have a reputation to uphold."

"Your secret is safe with me," I replied, nudging him playfully.

We shared a comfortable silence, the laughter of our friends in the background. It felt like a moment stolen from reality—a reminder that amidst all the chaos and danger, we could find joy and laughter together.

"I had fun today," Jay said softly, glancing at me. "I'm glad we did this."

"Me too," I said, my heart racing. "Maybe we should make this a regular thing."

"Only if you promise to bake more of those cookies," he joked, a teasing glint in his eyes.

"Deal," I said, grinning back.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden hue over everything, I realized that with Jay by my side, even a life filled with danger could have moments of laughter and love.

And in that moment, I couldn't help but feel that we were not just building a business but a life filled with sweet adventures.
