"Oi phi... where would be a good place to start looking for her?" Freen asked frustratedly.

There was a pause.

"I think we can go to the street where I first found her. Maybe she's there, nong." Nam said.

"Okay dai, come on, come on."

"Uh nong... tell me again why do we have to find this Becbec kid?" Faye asked as they began to walk down the street, eyes looking around at the cars and pedestrians passing by, in case she saw any familiar signs of the girl.

"It's because we were the last people who saw her tonight and she left because..." Nam looked at Freen, and then back at Faye before continuing, "you know, phi..." She didn't finish the statement, thinking that Faye would understand the hint of awkwardness to repeat that it was actually Freen's fault who made Becbec disappear from her sight, although Freen kept telling herself that it was her fault.

"And why is it my fault that she left?!"

"Damn it, P'Faye! Shut up and keep looking, it's your fault, you know you make her feel uncomfortable by teasing her this afternoon." Nam interrupted her.

"It was because I didn't know she was... different?" Faye hesitated, but said it anyway and Nam rolled her eyes and continued, "I'm sorry na."

Keeping her eyes and ears open, they walked down the street, stopping to look in store windows every few feet, trying to notice if there was a sign of that girl.

They passed a fast food restaurant. The smells of smoked pork and fried noodles wafted out onto the sidewalks, reminding Faye that they hadn't had a chance to eat their dinner yet. She could imagine Freen probably felt the same, as she was, always hungry, but she didn't say anything because she could see how worried her friends were. Not yet. They just had to find that farang girl first, or at least, they needed to know that the girl had been found first.

Walking towards the street, Nam told Faye about that girl and how she related to her little brother's situation, which was why she also worried about her safety and because she was Finn's friend. Faye started to feel sorry for that girl. But she still didn't understand why Freen acted that way towards her earlier in the salon. Thus, Freen asked Nam to explain later, as she was sick of repeating the same old story twice.

Reaching the street and Café Petite where she brought Becbec to sit with her, Nam entered the café with Faye and Freen continued searching the street.

"Sawadee... excuse me," Nam greeted one of the waiters and the waiter smiled at her and asked how he could help her.

"Did you see any small woman my age, brunette, halfy, wearing a black tank top and white shorts around here somewhere?" Nam asked and the waiter said he hadn't seen a single girl nor had his coworkers. She thanked him and went to find Freen and Faye.

"Ugh... now what?" Faye asked after they walked a few steps to the narrow sidewalk between the shops that led them to an alley that ran behind all the buildings on the west side of Phra Ratchawang, which was two blocks from Freen's apartment.

"Honestly, I have no idea ka, let me ask Khun Araya if they have found her yet or not." Nam pulled her cell phone out of her purse and before she could press the dial, she remembered something. "Oi, we are such idiots!" She suddenly exclaimed, looking at Freen and Faye.

"What?" Freen asked.

"We can ask your son!" Nam told her.

"Ask him what?"

"Oh my God, nong!" Freen received an elbow from Nam. "He's Becbec's friend, right? And they always spent time together before, he might know where Becbec is. Call him!"
