/FLASHBACK/

A day later, Becky didn't see Freen in the cafeteria during lunch. She saw her friends, Tharn and Fai, but thought it would be weird if she suddenly asked them about her. So she didn't ask.

After lunch, when she walked into her first English class, she was surprised to see that girl was already sitting in the same class as her, reading her book. Becky tried to start a conversation with her, but she only gave one word in response.

The next day they didn't have classes together and Becky anxiously looked forward to English class for the first time in her life. As Becky walked to the cafeteria, she saw Freen sitting on the bench under the tree, eating her lunch while reading.

There was no one else around except her, and Becky walked slowly and sat on the bench that was opposite Freen.

As Freen read, she noticed Becky looking at her, but she didn't look up. Becky then stood up, crossed the park, and sat next to her on the bench. Still she didn't acknowledge Becky's presence, though she already felt clearly imposed upon.

Finally, when Becky cleared her throat and said, "Do you come here often, phi?"

Freen looked up, surprised. She offered Becky a weak smile as she saw Becky grinning from ear to ear at her. "Uh, cai ka, I come to read, the cafeteria is too noisy." She said, then turned her attention back to her book.

They stayed silent for a while, and Freen thought Becky would finally understand, that she appreciated her attention but didn't want it.

"What are you reading, phi? Is it good?" Becky asked, proving she was wrong.

Freen put the book down and sighed, resigning herself to the fact that Becky wasn't going to leave her alone. She looked at her book, 'A Constellation of Vital Phenomena', and realized Becky doesn't care about the book.

Becky nodded as she read the title. Her friends were right, Freen only talked when she wanted to. Becky chuckled and the other girl looking at her as she smiled from ear to ear.

Freen raised an eyebrow, wondering what is so funny?

"Nothing ka..." Becky replied as her eyes briefly blinked at Freen who looked at her in confusion as if she heard Freen ask her a question.

Freen's cheeks had turned pink. She looked at Becky with a smile, wondering what had made her laugh.

"I'm Rebecca by the way. But you can call me Becky, phi." Becky said.

"I know silly, you told me twice na, in the cafeteria and then yesterday, in class." Freen said.

Needless to say, Becky almost fell off the bench and quickly burst out laughing.

"Aw? I'm sorry ka, are you okay?" Freen asked her.

"I thought you didn't hear me, phi?"

"Of course, I did, you spoke into my ear na." Freen said, pointing to her left ear.

"And then what? You chose to ignore me because you don't feel like talking?" Becky asked laughing, evidently enjoying Freen's reaction.

"Maybe..." Freen answered, turning the book to the next page and continuing where she left off.

"You're P'Sarocha, right?" Becky asked again.

"Freen. Just call me Freen, nong." Freen answered.

"Freen... P'Freen..." Becky repeated, and Freen looked back at her, watching as Becky looked at her again. "You're very beautiful, P'Freen!" Becky said, and Freen blushed again.
