"You left her, when you knew she was sick, what made you come back now?"//
The moment Freen wanted to open her mouth to speak, a woman with ash blonde hair walked into the salon with a bright smile on her face. The woman had started going to her salon few months ago after her long-time stylist had moved away, and had quickly become one of her salon's favorite clients.
"Sawadee ka, Khun Freen..." The woman said to Freen and smiled at Araya.
Freen looked at her watch, "Sorry na, give me a second." She said to Araya before walking over to her client and putting her in the chair. "Sawadee ka, Khun Ling."
"Oih, Khun... I'm about half an hour before my appointment, I know, na? I didn't realize I scheduled both appointments so close together!" The woman confessed.
"No problem ka, Khun, but if you don't mind, Khun Faye can take my place for today?" She asked as she looked for her friend.
"Oh, did I come at the wrong time? Sorry na, I don't care as long as Khun Faye's work is as perfect as yours, Khun." The customer said, offering Freen the most sincere smile.
"Oh, you don't have to worry, our employees are prepared for excellence.. P'Faye–" Freen stopped when she felt someone tap her shoulder.
"No need to do that, Freen. You can continue with your work, maybe I'll see you next time." Araya said, with a forced smile on her face.
"But we need to talk, Khun... I need to tell you–"
Once again, she was cut off by the older woman. "I just got off a long trip, Freen. I need to rest right now."
"Ka, I understand.." Freen said. "I'm sorry to bother you, can you call me when you're ready to talk?"
"Sure, it's nice to meet you, Freen." Araya said, and Freen wasn't sure if it was sarcasm or not, because her face looked extremely exhausted. "And thank you so much for taking care of my daughter while I was away." Araya said as she went to hug Freen, a not so friendly hug.
Freen could smell the tension between them. She looked at Becky, who was sitting in one of the chairs, rummaging around in her backpack as if she was looking for something.
When Freen finally pulled away from that quick, "cold" hug, she found herself forcing a smile at Araya as well. She didn't want to do that, but at that moment, she felt that there was that strange feeling, that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach or heart when you felt nervous or when you felt afraid of something. Freen just watched Araya go to get her daughter.
"Come on na, baby, let's go home now."
Becky looked at her mother excitedly when she heard the word "home." But then, she remembered something, or someone. "Can we wait until Finn comes back from school? I want to give him something, mommy." She said.
"Honey, I need to get home now, can you give it to his mother?"
"Uhm, but I want to say goodbye to Finn too." She pleaded.
"Becbec, I'm really tired na, I want to go home so I can rest." Her mother said, sighing deeply.
Becky looked disappointed, but she didn't want to tire her mother out any more than she already was. So she gave in. "Okay ka, I want to say goodbye to P'Freen first and give her this." Becky walked over to Freen, who was watching her. When she was finally in front of her, she handed Freen a Spiderman action figure. "Can you give this to Finn? I wanted to surprise him, but my mommy needs to go home now." She frowned. "Then, you can give him this and tell him that I say goodbye and... and I'll see him tomorrow, so we can play together again!" Thinking about playing with that boy, her face turned into excitement. But when she saw Freen's face, she continued to frown.
