Chapter 19: Breakfast

Valerie wasn't having any class the next day so she stayed home, she was in the kitchen making breakfast, it was quite early. She wanted to do something for Kyle at least to thank him properly so she thought of making breakfast for him. She was making pancakes with coffee, just a simple breakfast like she would have with her grandmother back at their small house.

After preparing it she set the dining table. She smiled at what she had done and was about to call Kyle from his room when she saw him coming downstairs. He was wearing simple clothes, seems he wasn't going to work today. She approached him and stood before him, damn he was tall!

''Good morning'' She smiled.

''Hm'' Was all he said, he was staring at his phone, not even sparing her a glance. He was about to walk away but she came in front him, her arms stretched out.

''Wait'' She said. He looked at her and raised a brow.

''What''

''Uhm, I made breakfast''. She said.

He looked at the food on the table. ''Not hungry''

He took a step to leave but she blocked him again.

''Why don't you just eat a little'' She said

''You can do that instead'' He said for walking away. Valerie felt really bad she thought he would at least appreciate it but he didn't even look at it twice, she felt so stupid. What could an ordinary girl like her offer the arrogant CEO. Kay saw what happened and approached the girl.

''Don't let Kyle's behaviour bother you, he's just like that sometimes''. He said and she only gave a small nod. Why did she even feel bothered by his actions, he was arrogant after all. Was he supposed to act different?

She took his advice and had the breakfast instead, there's no point wasting food. Valerie spent the rest of the day taking a tour round the mansion,

Her phone rang from inside her pocket, she brought it out and looked at the screen, it was Simone which she saved as 'Sim' with two hearts. She answered the call.

''Hello''. She said

''Hello'' Simone said from the other side, her voice laced with panic

''Is there a problem Simone, why do you sound worried?''

''Actually, I got a call from Tasha's mom that she fell down and sprained her ankle real bad, she's in the hospital now''. Simone said in a rush.

''What? Okay I'm coming, where are you now?''. Valerie inquired.

''I'm about to drive out, I'm close to the CEO's mansion, come outside I'll pick you up''

''Okay''. Valerie hung up, she thought to tell Kyle first before leaving as it seemed right to tell the owner of the house. But where was he, she hadn't seen him all day, was he even home? Well it was such a big mansion who knows.

She saw the butler, Gary and decided to ask him.

''Uhm excuse me Gary, where is the CEO?'' She asked the butler who always had a weird smile on his face, maybe because of his gap teeth.

''I don't know Miss, I haven't seen the master all day''. He said

''Uhm okay, what about The Kay''

''He went out a few hours ago''

''Oh, okay um tell the CEO I went to see a friend in the hospital''. She said before leaving and Gary nodded. She would've called Kyle, but she didn't even have his number.

When she got outside, she stood at the side waiting for Simone. A while later, a white Bugatti Chiron stopped in front of her, they smiled at each other and Valerie got it.

It was 5:23pm when the duo arrived at the hospital, it wasn't a big hospital. They put a call to Tasha's most who told them the ward she was in.

They headed to the ward and when they arrived, they met Christy, Natasha's mother and Tasha sitting on the bed.

Christy looked really young to be the mother of a 23 year old, she looked like she was in her 30s, though she was only 44. Natasha didn't look so bad, she had her left leg stretched on the bed and her ankle was bandage. Christy smiled at the two girls

''Thank goodness you're here, your friend here is so careless, stay with her while I settle some things''. Christy said, referring to Natasha.

After Christy left, Simone sat beside Tasha.

''Silly girl, what did you do to yourself''. Simone pushed her head lightly.

''Ouch'' Natasha cried.

''Look at what you did to yourself Tasha''. Valerie complained.

''Oh, come on Val it's not that serious, my mom's just panicking. You know how she is when it comes to me''. Natasha said. Indeed that was true, Christy was very protective over Natasha especially after her father died some years ago and things became a bit difficult for them. Tasha had two older brothers, they were twins but they didn't live in the city.

''How did this happen'' Valerie said, looking at Natasha's bandaged ankle.

''Well I slipped on water which I spilled on the floor but forgot''. Natasha shrugged.

''How is your leg now?''. Simone asked.

''It's not hurting much, but it's swollen''. Natasha answered

''How bout now'' Valerie said after nudging Natasha sprained ankle.

''Owww'' Tasha wailed and pouted her lips and Valerie almost chuckled.

''How are you going to go to school now'' Valerie probed.

''I don't know''.

''I'll come pick you up''. Simone said

''Aww, really'' Tasha grinned from ear to ear

''Of course, what are friends for''. Simone smiled

''Sisters'' Valerie corrected.

They had been friends since childhood, they played together, helped each other, spent time together, had sleepovers. They even attended the same high school, indeed they the sisters she never had, the sisters they all never had.
