Listen uhm..". The doctor said intending for her to say her name.

"Valerie.. Valerie Grayson". She said.

"Listen Miss Grayson, you're grandma's case is critical and you do know that there is no cure for COPD whatsoever".

"But she could undergo a bullectomy, LVRS or Lung transplantation. And in this situation, the transplant is the best option because her case is critical but the transplant is also the most expensive". He explained.

"Then why don't we opt for the bullectomy?"

"Well a doctor will only carry out the transplant if there is no other option and if the possible benefits of the procedure out-weigh the potential risks and....this is the case of your grandma".

"How much is the surgery?"

"1,200,000 USD"

"What? That's a lot!". Valerie exclaimed.

"Well this is a lung transplant so it is bound to be expensive".

"Okay, could you please start to find a donor I'll pay when I have the money".

"I'm sorry miss but this is a private hospital so that won't work".

"How bout I pay in installments.....Or I could pay $500 first". She negotiated; she thought she would borrow some money from her friends.

"Well we can only start treatment if you pay at least 70%".

"Could you please pardon me? I swear I'll pay". She pleaded, cupping her hands.

"I'm sorry but my hands are tied, this is a policy I have to follow".

"Aren't you the senior doctor?".

"I am, but I have policies I do follow, you have 3 days to arrange the money so that the procedure can begin immediately, meanwhile we'll look for a donor". He told her.

"You may leave now, I have other people waiting. The nurse outside would show you to your grandma". He told her, gesturing with his hand for her to leave. Gradually, she slowly stood up and left the office, she met the nurse outside who led her to the ward her grandma was moved into.

Valerie stared at her grandma's unconscious figure on the bed as she sat beside her, Jade looked so pale and weak, it broke Valerie's heart to see her like that. Her loving and sweet grandmother who had always been there for her was lying unconscious on a hospital bed.

She held Jade's hand in hers, her gaze never leaving her she caressed her hand softly, a tear escaped her eye, her thoughts drifted to her grandma's treatment, how was she going to raise the money?. It was a very high price, she had never even seen such an amount of money in all the 22years of her life, how was she going to get the money, and in such a short time too.

A knock on the door interrupted her train of thoughts.

"Valerie, it's me". She heard the voice which seemed to be Jace's, say.

"Come in". She said and Jace opened the door.

"How's grandma?". He asked as he approached the bed and sat on a chair next to it.

"Not good at all". She shook her head, more tears rolling down her cheeks but she tried to control it.

"Hey, don't cry, what did the doctor say?". He asked with concern.

"You know about my grandma's health condition right?". She began and Jace nodded.

"Her condition is critical now and.. the doctor said she has to undergo a lung transplantation..". Her voice shaky as more tears rolled down her already red cheeks

"...How much is the surgery?". He asked, but instead of answering, Valerie just cried even more and Jace approached her and tried to calm her down.

"How much Val?". He asked again.

"1.2million dollars!!". She said, her tone loud in frustration.

"Oh my goodness, that's a lot. I'm not even worth such money". He said in utter shock.

"Didn't you ask if you could pay in installments?".

"He refused".

"How bout paying a little first". He probed.

"Well he said that he couldn't do that and that he had principles he follows". She answered.

"Principles? At the cost of a person's life?". Jace was exasperated.

"I don't know what to do now, I don't want my grandma to die, and she's all I have". Valerie cried harder.

"Stop crying Val, you're the strongest person I know and listen, your grandmother is not going to die okay?". He assured her.

"What's the guarantee huh? She's in dire need of a transplant, her condition is fatal and there is no money for that! How do you expect me to calm down...how?". Valerie yelled in total frustration, she was going through a lot at the moment, and Jace understood.

"Okay, I'll see what I can do okay? I'll be back soon, please take care of yourself and your grandma too. I'll try to get some money to help. I may not be able to get much but I'll try my very best. Okay?". He assured his friend and she could only nod, she seemed a bit calmer now.

After Jace had exited the room, Valerie just sat there in silence as the tears just rolled her cheeks. Her gaze fell on her bag which was at the foot of her bed and she suddenly remembered the job offer she'd received the other day. Tomorrow was when she was supposed to do it and due to the situation, she already made up her mind to do it.

There was no room for dignity here, her grandma's life was at stake, which was more important, saving her dignity Or saving her grandmother?. She couldn't think of anything else, this was the only way, she had to do it.

She grabbed her bag and opened it, luckily the card was still there, a little crumpled, but she could still see the number. She dialed the number on her phone.

"Hello, uhm Mr Charles?".

"Yes, to whom am I on to".

"It's......Uh.. I'll do the job". She stuttered.

..................KID Enterprise.......

Kyle sat in his office unfazed and just typing on his computer, while Kayson kept pacing back and forth.

"I know you're cold-hearted but are you heartless too?". Kayson questioned.

"Get to the point". Kyle said, tone firm.

"I mean what you did to that poor old lady, you just took her home away from her, we don't even know how she's doing?".

"I tried compensating for the loss Kay, it's not my fault".

"But still Kyle...".

"Focus on your self Kay, don't bother me". Kyle interrupted him, his aura very chill now.

"Did you clear the footage?". Kyle suddenly asked after a while of silence.

'' Yes, I did''.

''Good''. Ken said

''Uhm.. but I still don't get something though''.

''What?''. Kyle raised a brow.

''Why did you use your powers? To prevent a loss ...'' He added ''Or to save that girl from the embarrassment ?''. Kay probed.

'' Are you making a statement or asking a question''. Kyle said.

''And are you trying to avoid the question?''.

''I just did that cause I felt like''. Kyle shrugged.

Kay: ''....''
