''I don't have a home, I'd just stay with my grandma at the hospital''. She said.

''Get in''. He repeated and she quietly entered the car. He asked her the name of the hospital and she told him.

The drive to the hospital seemed longer than when she left to the hotel and was awkwardly silent. She looked up at the man. Damn this man wasn't smiling, she wondered if he even knew how to.

''How much is the bill?''. She suddenly heard him say, breaking the icy silence that once enveloped the car

''What?'' She asked, a bit taken aback by his question.

''For your grandmother''

''It's 1.2 million''. She responded and he didn't say anything after that. They arrived at the hospital and the car halted.

''Thank you'' Valerie said in a soft tone before unbuckling her seatbelt and coming down from the car. As soon as she did, the car accelerated again and Kyle drove off. She didn't know why but she just stood and watched the car disappear from her sight.

That night at her grandma's ward she decided to put a conference call to Simone and Natasha.

''Hey Val'' Simone said, she had an avocado face mask on her face and seemed to be in a tub.

''What's wrong Val? We saw your missed calls and you also missed our call. Why haven't you been attending class, you know it's almost our final exams''. Tasha probed with concern. The two friends had been worried about Valerie and they planned to visit her place the next day, if not that she had called.

''Well guys, it's a long story''. Valerie said, trying not to sound as sad as she was. Tasha spotted the Holter monitor in the background and said. ''Valerie are you at a hospital?''.

Simone inched closer. ''Yes, that looks like a hospital. What's going on, are you sick?''

''It's a long story, can we meet tomorrow? I'll tell you about it. And no, I'm not sick''. Valerie said.

''Okay, we'll meet tomorrow at Jace's after lectures. Good?''. Simone suggested.

''Okay, that's fine''. Valerie nodded.

''I have to go now, my facemask is ready to come off, bye guys''. Simone said.

''Bye Val, take care of yourself''. Tasha said.

''I will, bye guys''

The call got disconnected.

The next day, after Valerie had woken up to some knocks on the door.

''Come in''. She said and then some nurses rushed in with a stretcher in which they put Jade on and hurried away. Valerie felt confused as to what was going on. But before she could process anything, Jade was already being carried away. She hurried to one of the nurses who was with them and asked what was going on and where they were taking her grandma and the nurse said.

''We're taking her the operation theatre for the surgery, a deposit has been made and we received strict others to commence her treatment immediately. Please excuse me, the doctors are waiting''. The nurse explained before turning away.

Valerie didn't know what to say nor or explain she felt so many things at the moment. Joy, shock, confusion, relief what did the nurse mean by the deposit have been made. Strict orders from whom? Who made the deposit? She didn't have answers to these questions but she was glad regardless.

She went to the lobby to wait, her heart racing with each passing minute. About 30 minutes later, a nurse walked out of the ICU.

''N...urse, how's my granny''

''We're operating on her, it's been stable so far'' The nurse said before walking off. Valerie felt quite relieved and went to sit down, silently praying within her that everything goes well.

''Welcome Sir, please have a sit'' She heard the nurse say to someone. She turned to the see the person and was surprise to see that it was Kyle and Kayson Gilberth.

They approached her and she rose up.

''Your grandma is being treated'' Kyle said in his usual flat tone.

''Yes'' She nodded. ''You made the deposit?'' She asked gingerly.

''Hm'' Was all he said, his hands in his pockets.

''Thank you so much'' She said heartily.

''Hm'' He sat down on one of the seats.

''You don't have to be worried okay? She'll be alright'' Kay assured her and she managed a smile

After the discharge papers were ready, Jade was wheeled on a wheelchair and carried into Kyle's car. Valerie sat beside her while Kyle was already seated on the driver seat with Kay at the shot-gun seat.

She was so happy that the surgery was successful and that her grandmother would get better.

Few minutes later, the car came to halt in from of a big mansion, in fact 'big' was an understatement, it was gigantic.

A tall and bulky man approached them, he helped Jade on her wheel chair, and it seemed Kyle had already told his staff about their arrival.

''Good evening master'' The bulky man greeted Kyle, who just came down from his car.

''Is their room ready'' Kyle asked the man who was as tall as he was. The man had thick brown hair and a pair of fiery amber eyes. He looked and pretty much collected, his body was perfectly toned as though he worked out often.

''Yes master, the house keeper made it ready'' The man answered. Kyle gave him a nod and he turned, wheeling Jade

Into the house

''Go ahead''. He turned to Valerie and she followed suit.

So many thoughts ran through her mind, it was too much to process. This arrogant CEO just did her big favor. No favor was an understatement God knows what would have happened if not for him.

She couldn't help but gaze at the new environment; she had only seen homes like this in the movies and media. Everything was shiny and sparkling clean. There were trees of different kinds and sizes, shrubs cut nicely into different items and animals like elephants, birds and more.
