Zuri Aniyah Banks
Eight Months Later
HARLEM, NEW YORK

"You have gots to stop with this talkin' to my belly, but ignore me." Zuri chuckled as she packed her hospital bag.

"I do talk to you... I just wanna talk to my baby first." Amazi innocently smiled, leaning down to plant a kiss on her stomach.

Caught up in her thoughts, she paused from packing the hospital bag. "We're really about to be parents, Mazi. This is crazy." She scoffed with a smile, shaking her head as she proceeded to pack.

"How come it's crazy?" He replied, draping his arms around her waist, and he placed his large hands on her belly to feel their baby kick.

"Because I'll be a mom soon. I've really outdone myself." She smiled as she scanned the nursery with her eyes.

Zuri and Amazi were preparing themselves to welcome their baby boy, Akeem Malik East, who was scheduled to make his arrive within the next two weeks.

Since mending their relationship and becoming content with a baby on the way, they moved into a large two story house that was filled with love and joy.

"Hmm. I wanna ask you something, Z." He slightly smiled, using a hand to grab an item from his back pocket.

"What?" She replied, zipping up the hospital bag before she began to pack Akeem's bag.

Without uttering another word, Amazi brought his occupied hand in front of Zuri, displaying the beautifully crafted five carat diamond ring, completed with a silver band.

"What is this?" Zuri smiled as she gently grabbed the ring from his hand, holding it in the air under the light.

"Will you marry me? I know this ain't the ideal proposal, but I been wantin' to ask you to marry me fa over a year and—"

"Yes. Of course I'll marry you, Bubba." Zuri interrupted his sentence with multiple kisses on the lip.

He smiled at her obvious happiness, briefly hugging her before grabbing the engagement ring. "Let me at least do this part right." He chuckled, sliding the ring on her left ring finger.

Zuri smiled as she stared at the ring on her finger, in shock that she was officially a fiancée to the man that she shared multiple first time experiences with.

She never expected things to come as far as they did with Amazi, from overcoming issues within the relationship to becoming parents and engaged. To her grandmother accepting their relationship and being excited for her first great grandchild.

"Thank you." Amazi thanked, resting his forehead against hers, and his hands softly rubbed her stomach.

"Fa what?" Zuri questioned as she smiled when their unborn son started to kick at the warmth of his father's hands.

"Makin' me a better man. You gave me real love and I'm forever grateful for that. You givin' me my first child, a son. You gone be my wife soon. I swea' I love you so much." He professed his love, planting a kiss on her lips.

"I love you, too. Honestly, we can go to the courthouse and get married tomorrow if you want." She chuckled, partially joking with her honest thought.

"You serious? I'm down wit' that. Deadass." He nodded, pulling her into another tight hug.

"To be honest, I'm kinda serious. I wouldn't mind being Mrs. East before having Baby East." She shrugged, finger combing her hair.

"So nomo. I'm fina go get a marriage license. I'll be back in a few hours." He announced as he kissed her before quickly leaving the nursery.
