Chapter 15

Christmas break

A few days before Christmas

Emily POV

I woke up this morning with Hardin waking me.

"Babe wake up. You're phone has been going off for the past 5 minutes" Hardin said

I opened my to see Hardin sitting on the bed and he has my phone in his hand.

"Who is it?" I asked him

"I don't know. It's an unknown number but it has been calling you for the past 5 minutes" he said and my phone rang again

"Give me the phone" I told him and he gave me my phone

He handed me the phone and I answered the call.

"Hello" I said as I put the phone near my ear

"Is this Emily Davis?" the lady asked me

"Yes this is her. Who is this?" I asked

"This is Amy from Atlanta General Hospital. I'm sorry to inform you that you're mother has passed away" Amy said and my whole world stopped for a second

My mom died. But how? Hardin saw that I was frozen and didn't know what to say back to the lady.

"Babe. What's wrong?" Hardin asked

I didn't answer him. I just gave him the phone.

"Hello... yes she still here... I'm her boyfriend... when did this happen? ... how? .... Okay I'll tell her.. thank you... bye" Hardin said and hung up the phone then he looked at me "Emily, come here" he said as he wrapped his arms around me "I know you don't cry in front of people but you can let it out. I'm right here" he said as he rubbed my back

I couldn't help but slip a tear and then I went full down breakdown. I couldn't take it anymore. My mom was in a car accident. I don't know if she's okay or not.

"Is she okay?" I asked Hardin

"No I'm so sorry Emily" he said and that made me cry harder

"Why Hardin? Why her? She is the nicest person ever. Why does it have to be her?" I asked him while crying

"I don't know babe. I really hope to have a good answer for you here but I promise you I will be here if you need anything" he said and I just nodded

"I love you" I told him as I looked at him and he gave me a small smile

"I love you too" he said

"What do we have to do now? Do we have to see her body?" I asked him

"Yeah they said they have the body. Do you want to see your mum?" he asked me

"Yes I want to but it's an hour drive" I told him

"I don't mind. I could drive while you sit in the passenger seat" he said

"Are you sure?" I asked him

"Emily, if you ask me that question a million times I swear I will have to pick you up and take you to the car rather you like it or not" he said and I smiled "Now there's that smile. Do you want to eat something before we go?" he asked and I lost my appetite after getting that phone call

"I'm not hungry" I told him and he sighed

"Baby, I know you're sad about what happened but you can't leave out breakfast. I want you to eat something so can you eat for me?" he asked me and I looked at him and he gave a sad look

"Okay but I'm not getting out of this bed" I told him

"Okay I have a plan for that" he said as he picked me up bridal style and I giggled

"You know the answer for everything don't you?" I asked him as he walked to the kitchen

"Yes if it helps you to get out of bed then I do" he said and I smiled

"Hey babe wake up. We are here" I heard Hardin

I opened my eyes to see we are outside the hospital.

"Okay" I told him

"You ready to do this?" he asked me and I looked at him

"Ready as I ever be" I told him

"We got this okay" he said

"Can I have a kiss?" I asked him and he smiled

"Of course you can" he said and I smiled as he kissed me "Let's go" he said

We got out of the car and Hardin held my hand as we went inside. I let go of his hand as he went to talk to the front desk while I stood far from him to collect my thoughts. I still cannot believe I'm here because of my mother. My mother is young and she had a long life to live but someone decided to take it away from her.

"Babe" I heard Hardin and I looked at him to see the doctor beside him "We can go see your mum. Come on" he said

I walked over to him and he held out his hand and I held it.

"Hi Emily my name is Dr Derek. I'm sorry for your loss. We can see your mom now" Dr Derek said and I nodded

We followed Dr Derek and we approached to a room.

"This is where your mother is" Dr Derek said as he opened the door "You can go see here. When you're done you can come and see me so I could close the door again" Dr Derek said

"Okay Dr Derek. Thank you" Hardin said

Dr. Derek left and Hardin and I went inside the room. We went inside the room my mom's body is on a bed under a blanket.

"You ready to see your mother?" Hardin asked me and I nodded

He ripped the blanket off of my mother and I gasped when I saw my mother. Her body is still and not moving. She has a blood all over on her face and I couldn't bear to see it and Hardin knew I hate blood. He immediately wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to his chest. I cried into his chest and he was calming me down.

"Do you want to me to put the blanket back?" Hardin asked

"Yes" I sobbed and he nodded

He held me still as he put the blanket back on my mother.

"Let's get out of here and get you to calm down" he said

He held me as we getting out of the room. We went outside of the waiting room and I sobbed in his chest.
