Chapter 31

Emily POV

I woke up this morning with Hardin's arms wrapped around my waist. My back is against his chest and his face is nuzzling my neck to make me giggle a bit because it tickles. I turned a bit without waking him up. I looked at him and I don't know why I like watching him sleep and it's a good thing.

Without waking him up I got out of his arms and then kissed his forehead. I smiled at him before I left the room. We are still at the cottage and we leave tomorrow. I had a fun time at the cottage especially with my dad. We made some new memories together.

I went to the bathroom to do my business and then I got out. Hardin still asleep which is good and I got out of the bedroom. I went downstairs to see my dad and Ken are talking in the kitchen. Ken saw me and smiled at me.

"Good morning Emily" Ken said as I stood beside dad

"Good morning Ken" I told him

"What? No good morning to me?" dad asked me and I chuckled

"Good morning dad" I told him as I hugged him and kissed his cheek

"Good morning. How did you sleep?" dad asked and patted the stool next to him and I sat down

"Good. How about you?" I asked him

"Good" he said

"Is Hardin still asleep?" Ken asked me and I looked at him

"Yeah. I didn't want to wake him up at this time because we all know how grumpy he will in the morning" I told him and Ken chuckled

"Yeah I know that. I've experienced that. Well, I will let you guys chat. I'm going to see if Karen is up" Ken said and then left

"Do you want tea?" dad asked me

"Yes" I told him

He smiled and kissed my forehead as he got up to make some tea for me.

"I actually need to talk to about something" dad said and I looked at him as he brought my tea

"Thank you and what about?" I asked him

"I just wanted to say I love you very much you know that right?" he asked

"Yeah. Dad are you leaving me again?" I asked him and he put his hand above mine

"No I'm not but I do have to tell you something though and it's really important and I don't want you to get mad" he said

"Okay. What is it?" I asked him

He took a breath before telling me.

"I'm seeing someone" he said

"As in someone you're both boyfriend and girlfriend?" I asked him as I sip my tea

"No as in I'm married to this person" he said and I looked at him

"When?" I asked him

"It's after I walked out from your mother. I had my sad days were I would leave alone until this woman found me. We lived together and then we fell in love. We married to each other a year later and now we have 2 kids together" he said

Wow. That's a lot to take in. So, now I have a step mother and either step brother or step sister.

"I know it's a lot to take in baby" dad told me and I looked at him

"Yes it it. Does this mean you still love me?" I asked him

"I do. I still love your mother and I'm sorry what happened to her. Hardin told me everything when we first met" he said
