Chapter 2
The past
Jayla's pov
I look back on the first meeting of each of my men with fond memories. Each of them brought something different to our relationship and I was happy with them. I bet you are wondering what happened once I got back home after traveling and visiting with my seven lovers. I came back feeling guilty for having been with each of the men because I was taught things like that were not to happen, that it was vile. My father lived that lifestyle and because of that I pretty much grew up without him so what would happen now to me if anyone ever found out I am the new Queen and judged by everyone?
When I got back home my mother was there waiting for me and she didn't look happy. I thought once I became Queen that I wouldn't have to deal with my mother's disapproval anymore. I wondered what she was even doing here. Shouldn't she be off living her life somewhere far from here? I was not in the mood to deal with my mother. All I wanted to do was take a nice hot bath and rest, but it looked like that wasn't going to happen any time soon.
"Mother, what are you doing here?"
"I decided to come and check up on you to make sure you are not embarrassing our family."
"Mother I am exhausted I don't have the energy to deal with this right now. I am exhausted and just want to rest."
"Yes, I heard all about your little peace treaty mission. I don't know who you think you are, but this will never happen."
"I am the Queen and it's already happening and there is nothing you can do about that."
I was done arguing with her. She spent her time as Queen fooling everyone and lying to cover up my father's many affairs, so she had no room to talk. I am making a difference, and she will not stop me. The treaty was already in motion, and everyone signed it. I didn't need her help to make things happen. I wanted to be an honest Queen and change the barbaric ways of every Fae Queen that came before me. We were no better than anyone else and it was time my people realized that.
"Oh, don't even take that tone with me because I can destroy you and this little treaty in an instant."
"What the hell are you even talking about? I want you to leave. I don't have to take this from you anymore like I said before you need to leave."
"I will be going but this isn't the last you'll be hearing from me. I know what you've been doing and soon so will everyone else. You are just like your father and not fit to be Queen."
She walked out the door and slammed it behind her. I had no clue what the hell she was going on about and I was just too tired to care. I knew I would have to deal with her at some point, but it wasn't going to be tonight. I was just exhausted and needed to get some rest. I will deal with all of this tomorrow with a clear mind. I headed to bed just needing some good rest after everything that had happened.
I woke up the next day not because I was well rested but because I heard shouting. I didn't know what was going on, but I knew I had to get up and address whoever was causing such a fuss. I grabbed my robe and put it around me and then went out to ask who the hell was yelling at when I was trying to sleep. I thought maybe it had something to do with my mother and the mess she was talking about last night. When I walked out, I saw Jayden's father standing in my living room arguing with two of my guards demanding he see me at once.
"Hello King Draco, is everything ok with you and Jayden? Is there a problem with the treaty you and your son have signed?" I asked, thinking that was why he was here making such a fuss so very early in the morning.
