Chapter 14
Tobias' pov
(Somewhere in the human realm)
Once I was freed by Jena, I vowed to get revenge on Jayla and the shifters she valued so much that she picked them over me. I was going to kill them off one by one. I would enjoy doing it too. I wasn't going to kill Jayla no I was giving her to her mother where she would be enslaved and stripped of being Fae then she would be mine forever. She had no choice.
We have spies in each of the realms but the human realm until now. I knew the human world very well, so I wanted to be the one sent here. If they were hiding here, I would find them. I had friends here well people that thought I was their friend here, so I was going to trick them into helping me.
First on my list was going to be Micah we became friends and for a human, he was an ok guy. If they came here and were looking for a home, he would be the one they would go through. The other people I knew were all in the human realm so I called them telling them my wife ran off and was pregnant that way I knew they would call me once they spotted her.
I went to Micah's office, but he wasn't there, so I decided to go to his home. He opened the door shocked to see me but then came outside and closed the door. He always let me right in, so I wondered what was going on with him. Did he have company? Who could be here that would make him not let me in?
"Hey man haven't seen you in forever. I went by your work, but you weren't there, so I came here." I said.
"Yeah, I had a house to show, and I was so annoyed with people that I came home for a bit but I am headed out so I can set up for an open house."
"Oh, come on man I am sure you have time to have a beer and talk with an old friend."
"I am running late but what are you doing tonight?" Micah asked.
"Nothing why what's up?"
"Well, stop by around 7 and we can have some beers and grill so we can catch up."
"Yea sure I'll be back then."
I walked away from his house but didn't leave yet. I wanted to see if he was lying to me. Did he know Jayla somehow? If he did and he lied to me about it he would pay highly. I had no tolerance for these stupid humans so I could care less if I had to take one of their lives. For all I cared about this realm could be banished altogether.
He went back into his house and then came out carrying stuff that looked like he would need for work. So, I guess he was telling the truth this time. I left and decided to check in with a few other people I knew before coming back to talk to Micah.
Jayla's pov
I heard Tobias' voice outside and I freaked. I was here in Micah's home alone and unprepared to fight. What was Tobias doing here? How did he get free? I thought back and realized we left him locked up in the dungeon where my mother of course found him. I am sure he has told her everything he knew, but why would he come to the human realm? How would he know to look for us here? Was he alone here? I had so many questions running through my mind.
Was the war now coming to us? I knew the humans would all be destroyed if there was to be a war here. Then again maybe that's exactly what my mother wants. She always thought the Fae realm deserved to be bigger and she hated humans and how weak they were. I was not going to sit back and allow that to happen. I needed to leave so I could get the others. I was about to sneak out when Micah came back in.
"Hey, this guy I used to know is here and keeps trying to push his way in, so I told him I had to go to work I am going to make sure he leaves and then come back once I know he isn't around. I don't know why but I just feel he is up to no good" Micah said.
"What's his name, Micah?" I asked in a harsh voice.
"Jayla, what's wrong?"
"Please just tell me his name then go before he comes in here."
"His name is Tobias."
Micah walked out and my heart dropped to the floor. Was Micah working for my mother all along? Did he bring me here knowing I would be alone so Tobias could take me back to my mother and have me killed? My mind was racing, and I knew I needed to get out of here. I texted Lea telling her I needed a portal opened right away and where I was. Once it opened I hurried through. Lea was on the other end waiting for me and I knew she was going to have questions that I needed to answer but all I could do was fall into her arms and cry. I messed up badly this time.
Lea's pov
I was so angry once Jayla told me everything. If Micah set her up then he would have to pay. I decided to do a little investigating of my own. Jayla went to her room to rest, and I sent Kingston in to watch over her. I told Hartley what was going on and he insisted that he went with me. Jayden overheard us and instead of offering to come with he just went to his room shaking his head. I was about sick and tired of his bullshit at this point.
I got into my car, and we had to go places in the human world. I didn't want to once again use my magic because I knew in time it could get us caught. Plus, I didn't want to open a portal not knowing who could be there. So, this way would have to do. I didn't want Jayla to know where we were going was another reason I was driving to Micah's house.
