Chapter 5

Jayna's pov

I told my staff to prepare guest rooms because we had guests coming. I told Lea what was going on and she said she would do everything she could to keep peace but knew that my mother wasn't just going to go away quietly. I was glad I had Lea here because I knew I could trust her. Even though our mothers are friends Lea was nothing like her mother and I was nothing like mine. She told me that Jayden was in his room, so I decided to go to him before everything got even crazier.

"Jayden, can we talk?" I asked as I opened his door.

He pulled me into the room and locked the door behind us. He pulled me into his arms and just held me as he looked into my eyes. I didn't know what he was looking for exactly, but I didn't care. All I wanted was to be in his arms. I needed this just as much as he did. He kissed me and every worry and doubt melted from my mind. In that moment there was just me and him and nothing else mattered. No matter what happened I knew I couldn't give him up. I couldn't let him leave here and marry the dragon shifter his father picked for him. He was mine and I was his.

"Jayden I am so sorry for everything."

"Do you love them?"

"No, I don't love them."

"That was all I needed to know the look in your eyes and the way you just kissed me back tells me everything else I needed to know."

We just stood there in each other's arms not saying a word yet knowing exactly how the other felt. He knew about the other men, but he still held me with such love and tenderness. I didn't deserve him, but I was so glad he was here. I knew together we could face anything that came our way.

"We better go out and prepare for all your guests and the chaos that is going to come with them."

"Can't I just stay here in your arms forever?"

"I wish we could but along with your guests my father and my so-called fiancé are coming as well."

When he called her, I wanted to break down, but I knew I had to be strong. He pulled me back into his arms and held me once again. I didn't want to let him go because I had a feeling once we both walked out that door everything was going to change, and I didn't want it to. He let me go and I walked out first and went into my office.

The first to arrive was Hartley, which Lea brought right to my office and kept looking at him. She was blushing and he just winked at her and smiled. He was a ladies' man and a total flirt. Vampires sure knew how to charm a girl right out of their panties.

"Hello doll face how have you been?" Hartley asked with a smirk.

"Hi Hartley, do barge right in and make yourself at home," I said with a laugh.

He came in and sat down putting his feet up on my desk like he owned the place. I looked at Hartley, remembering the night we spent together. It was magical but he no longer has the same charm he did when we first met. It made me wonder if I had looked him in the eyes and he did some of his magic on me that night. I mean yes Hartley was sexy but now all I see is a hot body but not a man I had to be with. Maybe Jayden has ruined me for all other men.

"What's going on in that pretty little head of yours?"

"Please don't take this rudely Hartley but why are you here?"

"I got an invite from you or so I thought it was from you. I am sorry if I did something wrong to upset you. I thought it was about the treaty."

"You did nothing wrong Hartley, but I did not send you the invite. It seems someone is trying to sabotage the work we are all trying to do."

"Who would even do that?"

"I have a feeling it is my mother. I think she is trying to start a war and take back the throne."

"Well, if your mother wants a war, she will get one. I stand behind you."

"Thank you, Hartley, that means a lot to me. Guess we should see what else is in store for the day."

We walked out to join everyone else and to try and prepare for whatever was going to happen next. I kept seeing Lea looking at Hartley and blushing, so I made a mental note to ask her about it later. If she liked him and he liked her I would be happy playing matchmaker.

I heard a loud commotion, so I went to see what was going on and I saw Jayden and his father arguing and the dragon shifter he was supposed to be marrying. Seeing her here in my home, my realm had me seeing red. I don't know what this was all about, but I was going to end this here and now.

"What the hell is going on here?" I yelled making everyone turn to look at me.

"I sent my son to you in hopes you could get him to come around not for him to have some silly notion that the two of you could be together. You claim to want peace but now I am not so sure." Jayden's father said.

"Don't talk to her that way!" Jayden screamed at his father.

I could tell this was going to get bad fast, so I needed to be the one to take control of this. I knew there was no way I was going to allow Jayden to leave with his father and marry someone else. I loved him too much to ever let that happen. He was mine and I was his.

"First off everyone needs to calm down and second Jayden and I fell in love. We didn't mean for it to happen but it did so he will not be leaving with you to run off and get married. Thirdly I do want peace but if you want to come into my realm and be like this, I won't hesitate to act."

Jayden came over to me and put his arm around me stating where his alliance was at. Then Lea, Kingston, and Hartley came up behind me. It felt good to know I had people in my corner who believed in me. I was a peaceful person and didn't like to fight but I would if I needed to. No one was going to bully me into anything even if that meant that we would all have to leave and go somewhere else just to be safe. I know Jayden's father and my mother won't give up so maybe leaving was our only option.
