Chapter 10
Jayna's pov
Lea and I snuck out of the castle and went to the human realm so that we could set everything up before we brought the guys over. It was so different from our realm and I'll admit that it did have me a little worried. I was asking these beautiful majestic shifters to stay in their human form until who knows when. Was I just asking for trouble?
I met with a human man named Micah he was the realtor and helped us find a place. He told us a lot about the human realm without us even asking. I guess they have these things called states and he sensed we weren't from the current state we are in now, so he became our so-called tour guide.
He showed us some houses, but they had neighbors close by and were way too small for all of us. I needed a place that was secluded so the men could shift from time to time otherwise it wasn't healthy for them. I didn't want to have to spell a whole town if I didn't have to, so we needed privacy and something big enough for all of us.
I told him I wanted something different from what people would call normal, so he took us to this abandoned castle. When Lea and I saw it we both fell in love with it. It would need some work but that was something we could handle. I told him we wanted it, so we went back to his office to get everything set up. I was eager to get this done and hurry to get back before anyone sensed we were gone.
I didn't want my mother or Jayden's father to attack while we were here. I needed to get the guys to safety then I am sure her little snitches would tell her I ran off in fear. That was part one of our plan. We wanted them to think I gave up the Fae realm. Then she will turn on Jayden's father and when they don't expect anything we will come back. It wasn't much of a plan yet but in time we will figure it all out.
We got the keys to the castle and had Micah drop us off there. We told him we would be fine, and I said what I thought would be my final goodbye to this gorgeous human man. He helped us out so much and for that, I would forever be thankful for him.
Lea and I went into the castle and checked everything out. We knew we could get the inside looking perfect with Lea's witchy magic. We assigned each room and put each shifter's symbol on the door. I didn't want a pissing contest when the men came so we decided to get all of this done. On the outside it would still look like it needed work but, on the inside, it looked extravagant and brand new. Of course, to the human eye, it would still look like it had before. Lea put up a guard around the castle and I put a charm on it so we wouldn't be found out.
This wasn't our home, so I didn't want to stir up any trouble and have anyone think anything suspicious was going on. We just needed to blend in if that was even possible. Once we were done Lea created a portal so we could go back to our realm. Only a witch can create a portal and Lea was able to hide traces of her magic so no one could sense it.
Lea got the witch part from her dad's side and only she and her father knew about it. Her mother never knew. Lea's father is on our side and helped Lea come into her powers. He lived in the human realm and had nothing to do with her mother. Sadly, we must keep our distance from him for now just to keep him safe but once this war is over and we win he and Lea can be reunited again.
I wanted all the realms to come together and be as one. Well, all except the human realm because they knew nothing about any of us and I wanted to keep them safe. Maybe one day they could be a part of all of this but for now, I was focused on all the other realms. There are nine realms that we know of and I wanted to make it my mission to keep each one of them safe. I just hope I don't fail.
Jovani's pov
Once Lea and Jayla were back safe, I felt I could breathe a little easier. I hated them going alone but I knew it was for the best. It was in my nature to protect others so not going with them was hard for me. I knew they could handle themselves. Jayla kept making me proud of how strong she was. She is an amazing Queen and I have no doubt that she will win this war.
I was a little nervous about going into the human world. I knew we would all have to stay in our human form and for some of us that meant we would become weaker. I have never been able to stay in human form. I am stronger when I am in my natural form which is that of a Centaur. Jayla assured us she found a place that is secluded and both she and Lea have put up barriers and runes to make sure we are safe, and no one will find us.
She told us about the castle that was abandoned for some time and they bought it without any troubles. There is no one around for hundreds of miles. I fear that once we are living in it people might get nosey and come sniffing around. I have heard things about humans, and they don't seem to be a friendly bunch.
We waited until the middle of the night when most were sleeping. Lea created a portal for us all to cross over. Jayla insisted she went first since she knew all about the castle. One by one we all followed her with Lea being the last so she could close the portal and make sure no trace of her magic could be found.
We all looked around in shock at all the work the two women had done. They told us we would find our symbol on the door to our room so I decided to go and find mine so I could drop off my stuff. I opened the door to what I thought would be a small room, but I was wrong. When I looked at it, the room was huge, and it looked just like my house in my realm. Grass was everywhere it felt like home.
"I wanted to make sure each of you had a little bit of home here with you since we don't know how long we will be stuck here," Jayla said as she came up behind me.
I pulled her into my arms and hugged her. I was so thankful for this. I wouldn't admit to it, but I was a little homesick, so this was just what I needed. We pulled away from each other and she just smiled that mega-watt smile at me. I knew Jayla wasn't my soulmate and I wasn't hers, but I did in a way love her. I kissed her a soft innocent kiss letting her know without words how much this meant to me.
She kissed me back and then walked away to go and make sure everyone else was settled. I knew our connection wasn't one of love but of friendship and mutual respect. I don't regret our night together because it brought her into my life and that is something, I will never regret no matter what happens. I will gladly give up my life for hers.
