As the setting sun spilled golden light into the car, Jenna felt an odd mix of emotions swirl within her. The path that led to this moment seemed long and winding, filled with a series of thoughts that had cloud her mind. It was the kind of thoughts that invited reflection, yet she found herself racing against the clock to find the right words."Arias," she finally said, her voice soft yet steady, "when I left, it wasn't just about you or our situation. It was about the disappointment, I wanted you to be better than your family's business." Jenna said all the memory of their relationship flashed through her mind: the laughter, the dreams, the disappointment that had crept in like a shadow.
Arias shifted, tension drawing his brows together as he took in her words, an unspoken apology written across his face. "I understand that," he replied. "But part of me keeps asking if things could have been different. If I had just done better or fought harder, would you still be here?" His gaze was so earnest that Jenna felt her heart ache."I think we both had our parts to play," she said gently. "I believed I was making the right choice then. Walking away felt like the right thing to do, but I didn't realize how much hurt It would cause in the end." The breeze rustled the leaves above, punctuating her confession with a bittersweet sigh.
"So, if you had the chance," he pressed, leaning closer, "would you go back? Would you stay?" His voice was low, reverberating through the air between them, waiting for her response like a pebble dropped into a still pond.Jenna hesitated, feeling the weight of his question deepen around her. She looked out the window, where the last rays of sunlight kissed the sky. "I can't say I would stay. There was a part of me that needed to break free. But I won't lie; sometimes I wonder what it would be like if we still had each other. If we could just rewrite our story..." Her words trailed off, and for a moment, silence enveloped them.
"But if you could, would you stay?" he urged, eyes glowing with hope. Jenna turned back to him, feeling the warmth of possibility reignite within her. "Arias... I can't say yes and I can't say no" she admitted, her heart racing at the thought. "A part of me that day didn't want to leave but another part of me was disappointed and hurt that I had to walk away" she said looking at him Jenna knew deep down in her heart she would of stayed with him through the jail time but the disappointment was too much for her she felt hurt by him.
A smile broke across Arias' face, and he reached for her hand, their fingers intertwining in a moment. "Jenna I know I messed up and I know I disappointed you in the past, and I am not asking for you to be with me but I'm asking you to give me a chance to show I changed" Arias looked her in the eyes trying to find some hope that there could be a chance. As the minutes go by it felt like hours to Arias, Jenna looked at him and smiled It was as if the world around them had paused, shifting back to a time where hope still thrived. The air was charged with something new yet familiar.
"I know we still have hurdles to cross," he said softly, "but maybe this time we can face them together." He squeezed her hand, and Jenna felt a flicker of warmth blossom inside her. She nodded, emboldened by his words. "Maybe we can find our way back to each other. But it won't be easy, and I don't want to rush into anything without being sure. It's going to take time." "Then we take time," Arias agreed, his tone serious yet laced with relief. "I want you in my life, Jenna. No matter how long it takes to rebuild."
As twilight crept in, they sat in contemplative silence, embracing the uncertainty of tomorrow with new resolve. Though the past loomed large between them, for the first time in a long while, Jenna felt a sense of peace settle within—hope threaded together with possibility, entwined like their joined hands. The future was unknown, but at least they would face it, together. As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in warm shades of orange and pink, Arias start the car up and drive to their apartment building. The air was crisp, signaling the arrival of autumn, and the leaves crunched softly beneath their shoes.
They chatted animatedly about their day, laughter echoing through the hallway of their building. When they reached Jenna door, Arias stopped and turned to Jenna. Her hair glowed in the golden light, and for a moment, everything else faded away. With a warm smile, he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a long, tight hug. It was the kind of embrace that spoke volumes—a shared connection, a comfort found only in each other's presence.
Jenna nestled into him, feeling the warmth of his body and the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. Time seemed to stand still as they embraced, both savoring the moment that lingered between them. Finally, they pulled back, looking into each other's eyes, unspoken words hanging in the air."Goodnight, Arias," Jenna said with a soft smile, her heart fluttering as she turned towards the entrance.
"Goodnight, Jenna," he replied, a hint of reluctance in his voice. He watched as she walked into her apartment, her silhouette illuminated by the dim light above. As Jenna closed the door behind her, she let out a soft sigh. Sliding down to sit on the floor, leaning against the door, she couldn't help but smile. The warmth of Arias' embrace lingered on her skin, and her heart raced with the thrill of their connection. She felt an undeniable joy bubbling inside her, a feeling she couldn't quite name but knew was special.
In that quiet moment, she allowed herself to bask in the happiness that filled her heart. Tomorrow would come with its own adventures, but for now, she cherished the simple sweetness of the day and the warmth of someone who understood her so well. With a smile on her face, Jenna closed her eyes, her heart still dancing to the rhythm of their shared embrace.
