As the night stretched on, I sat in the car a few feet away from the small store, my eyes scanning the store and streets for any sign of trouble. Thankfully, the hours ticked by uneventfully. By the time dawn broke, it was 8 in the morning when she emerged, a burst of energy against the fading night. "Have a great morning!" she called out cheerfully, waving to the man inside before passing my car.

I couldn't help but notice the tired look in her eyes, a hint that she'd probably had a long shift just like mine. I felt an urge to follow her, to see where she headed next, but the moment was broken by the shrill trilling of my phone. Glancing down, I saw Roc's name flash across the screen. I sighed, knowing he wouldn't call unless he needed something."Sup?" I answered, trying to keep my voice steady.

"You busy tonight?" he asked, I rolled my eyes. "You know we have that meeting tonight with that guy, right?""Nah, Rio said he rescheduled. Something came up for him," Roc replied nonchalantly. I could hear the grin in his voice, like he had something up his sleeve."Okay... what do you want, then?" I prompted, knowing there was more.

"My girl wants to hang out with the guys at the diner. She's bringing her sister," he explained, and I felt the weight of his words. I knew this was his sly attempt to get me to come along and keep an eye on the sister while he spent time with his girlfriend.

"Who's her sister?" I asked, my curiosity piqued."Her name's Jenny... or Jenna, something like that. She's cool; I've met her before," Roc assured me, and I could feel the resolve building within him. I nodded at the phone as if he could see me. "Alright, what time do I meet you there?"

He rattled off the details, and I jotted them down mentally before we hung up. The idea of spending time with strangers didn't thrill me, but the thought of a night free from the usual mundane routine beckoned me. After a brief moment of contemplation, I decided to go home and grab a few hours of much-needed sleep before the evening's excitement.

As I drifted off, thoughts swirled around in my mind—about her, the sister, and what the night might hold. It was a curious feeling, allowing hope and anticipation to mix in my tired brain. Maybe tonight would be more than just another ordinary outing; perhaps, it could lead to something unexpected.

*FEW HOURS LATER 8PM*

I woke up from my sleep, feeling a pleasant heaviness in my limbs and a lingering warmth of dreams fading into the morning light. The night was just starting, and I took a nice hot shower, letting the steam envelop me. Once done, I stepped out and put on something simple. After sliding on my jewelry, I reached for my phone.

Three texts from Roc blinked on the screen, letting me know he and the guys were already at the diner. I couldn't help but sigh as I put my phone away. It was one of those nights where I felt indifferent about being late, but the thought of keeping my friend's girlfriend's sister company influenced my decision to head out.

As I walked to my car, I glanced up at the night sky. The moon was out, glowing bright and full, giving everything a mystical touch. "He better be lucky he's my homie," I muttered to myself, thinking of what I could have been doing instead—probably making money or enjoying my own company.

The drive over was uneventful; I took my time, savoring the cool night air as it rushed through my windows. Once I made it to the diner, I parked my car and stepped inside. The familiar chatter and clinking of dishes greeted me, and I dapped everyone up. "Sup, where they at?" I asked Roc, who sat at the bar, looking at his phone

"They're running late. Her sister wasn't ready yet," he replied, and I rolled my eyes. Great just another girl wanting to look perfect for the guys. "You better be lucky I fuck with you" I walked away and Grabbed a beer, I took a swig, settling into the night. "This is gonna be a long night," I thought, bracing myself for the hangout that was about to unfold. Minutes turned into what felt like hours, and just as I felt the weight of impatience creeping in, Roc suddenly stood up, calling out, "RIGHT HERE, BABE!"

I looked up, and my smile widened as I spotted her walking in, so she was the sister they both came over. As soon as our eyes met, I felt an unexplainable connection—a spark that sent a thrill through me. She was beautiful, with a kind of innocence that made it hard to look away. But her attention was pulled back when her sister grabbed her and pulled her down our eyes never left each other. After everyone meet and they started to talk to one another I could take my eyes off her "I'm going to the bathroom. I'll be back," she said, breaking our gaze as she slipped away.

"Lilly, you didn't tell us you had a fine ass sister!" one of the guys teased, igniting laughter around me. I couldn't join in, but Lilly quickly shot back, "She's off-limits; she's too goody-two-shoes for y'all," rolling her eyes dismissively. "Trust me, she's no good. I only brought her here because my parents wouldn't question me," her sister added with a laugh, and I clenched my jaw at the remark.

"Babe, let's go have some fun," she said, taking Roc's arm, and he followed without hesitation. As they moved away, I shot a quick glance at the group. "She's off-limits because she's mine," I stated firmly, keeping my voice low. They understood—my friends knew better than to test those boundaries.

I got up walked over to the bar and I grabbed another drink. I noticed Jenna returning, looking slightly annoyed, and when she sat down, and looked around she noticed the arcade. I felt compelled to cheer her up. My eyes drifted towards the same arcade area she was looking at, a playful grin creeping across my face. Walked over to her "Come on, let's go," I said, holding my hand out to her. She hesitated for a moment, but then took my hand, and we walked toward the games together.

For the rest of the night, we laughed and talked—having an easygoing conversation that felt both thrilling and comforting. I was surprised at how naturally we connected. Jenna's laughter was infectious, and with every smile, I felt more drawn to her.

After a while, her sister came bounding up, excitement lighting her face. "Come on! We're taking a picture!" She pulled us outside, and I found myself standing behind Jenna. She stood in front of me, and I couldn't help but feel a rush of warmth; I wrapped my arm around her waist, relishing the closeness.

She looked up at me, her eyes shining with innocence, and it took everything in me not to lean down and kiss her. Instead, I laughed lightly and said, "You don't want the camera to catch you looking at me, do you?" She blinked and shook herself from her trance, turning her head toward the camera. As the flash went off, I realized that this night was more than just keeping her company; it was the beginning of something unexpected
