Finding the Bucky in Winter Soldier

He was so familiar

You had no idea where you were being taken, or by who.. you sat upright in the seat you'd just been thrown into. The opposite door opened and in he got.. The man with the metal arm, his face covered with a mask and glasses. He didn't make a sound. He sat in the other back row seat, also upright. As you faced front your eyes couldn't help but shift over to see his metal hand clenching and unclenching, almost as if he was anxious.

There was a sense of familiarity about him, you couldn't understand why.. but then he took of his glasses and lowered his mask as he responded to the driver. It wasn't in English but the voice- the voice is what convinced you. You couldn't help but turn towards him and study his face. His eyes, those lips... Oh my, it couldn't be.. Could it?

'James', you lightly gasped, you didn't intend to say anything but it just slipped out. You didn't know how he would react. You just couldn't believe he was alive. After all this time you thought he had died, been killed by your uncle at the facility. Now he is sitting right beside you, granted he had just hunted you down and dragged you into the car which couldn't be good, but still, he is here, alive and breathing.

He turned his face towards you. His eyes met yours, but they weren't the sparkling blue gems you remember. They looked dark and deep. They didn't seem to recognise you. He had a stern look. You half smiled at him which seemed to confuse him.

It may have been the wrong time to ask him but you needed to know.. 'Do you know who I am?', you whispered so the driver wouldn't hear. He looked down at your lips as you asked so you know he knows what you said. He let out a slight sigh and returned to face forward.

'You are my mission. That is all I need to know', he quietly replied.

You returned to your forward position as you realised he didn't know, or didn't care. Either way, this isn't the James you knew..
