Chapter 31 - Welcome home

Rio was enraged but she's not allowed to show she's fuming in front of the customers. Why? Because she took up a job and she's working in a maid cafe for the week. Seeing Kotarou frequent here was concerning at first but when she saw how appropriate he was to just order a glass of milk and then leave once he's done, she ignored it. What she couldn't ignore however was the fact Karino was inside the maid cafe.

"Oi." Rio rudely put his glass of milk in front of him. 

"Eh?" Karino looked at Rio. He looked up and then down because she's a maid in a maid cafe! He should be concerned he's caught by Rio but his brain couldn't help but praise the owner of the cafe because the maid uniform looked very good on Rio. 

"You already have me, why do you feel the need to come in here, nya?" Today was cat maid theme so all maids were required to wear a cat tail that had a ribbon at the end, cat ears headband on the head, and a collar with a bell. Rio made sure to stay in character and she's required to end every sentence with nya at the end.

"Ah! No! You got it wrong! You got it wrong, I tell you! But while you're here, you think you can put some magic into the milk?" 

"I'll show you some magic alright. I can make people see stars when I use my wrench, nya." 

"...I am sorry."

Karino waited for Rio to finish work in order to walk home with her. He also bought her cakes to cheer her up. He didn't want her to think he went in maid cafe for the fun of seeing pretty girls putting magic in the food and beverages. He actually did have a reason to be in there. 

"You want to know why Kotarou come in? He's been coming here for a good while."

"He did, huh? What happened for him to keep coming?" 

"He's been coming in since I've been tasked to cover there." 

"You should have told me! I bet the brat found out you have been going there so he's there!" 

"Don't move the goal post to the kid, Old man. You looked happy when this other girl welcomed you in." 

"All men are happy when a pretty girl wearing a maid outfit welcome them!" 

"And they're also happy when they sing a disgusting song to put magic into the food and drinks. Seriously, you men actually like these things? What if your girlfriend dress like that?" 

"That'd be awesome!" 

"What if your wife wears it?" 

"It's still awesome." 

"...what if your daughter wears it?" 

"...that wouldn't be too good, will it?" 

"Have you ever stopped to consider the maids in there are someone else's daughter?!"

Kotarou continued to visit the maid cafe. Karino wanted to know why he's been going there but Kotarou just won't tell him the reason. Karino wondered if it's because Kotarou was shy to tell him? 

"If he's fallen for Rio, he's dead meat!" He put himself into Kotarou's perspective. Rio had income coming in; Rio held many major appliance licenses; she's good at the arts of negotiations against both men and women; she's very responsible, and she's good with children. Karino did not blame Kotarou if he had chose Rio- heck! He chose Rio himself!
