~Return of the great~I don't know why I was so nervous to return to school. I might actually have a panic attack. I push the worries away and grab my bags heading outside.
Maddox was waiting with my door already open. "You're getting good at this." I say getting in.
"Only for you shortcake." He says closing the door.
When we arrive, I can feel my heart starting to race. My breath was shaky and apparently noticeable. Once I'm out of the car he stops me.
With everyone looking he pulls me against him and embraces me. "I'm here for you." He says kissing my head. It actually calmed the nerves.
After a few minutes all my nerves calm. "Ready." I say. He nods grabbing my hand and walking with me inside. People immediately begin talking and looking.
"Ah, if it isn't my favorite couple." Laura says.
"Not a couple."
"Thanks." Maddox and I say at the same time."Are you sure? Because you're holding hands, he drove you to school, you've kissed, you've stayed the night with him." Maddie says chuckling.
She found out about everything since Maddox apparently went and threatened Kayla.
"Shush." I say.
"Awe is little Tate blushing?" Grace says.
"Three against one? Not cool."
"Actually four against one. Right Maddox?" Laura asks.
"I feel like my best option is to keep my mouth shut." He says.
"Good." I say smiling.
"She has you whipped man." Maddie bust out in laughter. We all gone in because it was kind of funny. However he didn't find it funny.
When I see Kayla walking down the hall I stop laughing and my body goes rigid. The girls are to busy making jokes about Maddox to notice my changed behavior.
However he notices gives my hand a reassuring squeeze. I use to think I was strong, I wasn't afraid of anyone. But I guess seeing my life flash before my eyes has changed me.
He purposefully blocks me from her view. When she sees him, she scurries away as if she'd seen a ghost. There is no telling what he did to them.
Once she is gone he relaxes but continues to occasionally squeeze my hand as if reminding me he was there.
"Oh you're gonna love this Tate. Hag bag got a new boyfriend. I seen the picture."Maddie says.
"Hag bag?" Maddox questions.
"Mrs Hammond. That's what we call her." Maddie then goes onto explain exactly why she calls her that and all the times she has written her up.
"She has never written me up." He says kind of proudly.
"Yeah that's because you never show up to class." I roll my eyes.
"Well now I have a reason to." He sticks his tongue out at me.
"Did you really just stick your tongue out at me like you were a five year old?" I question.
"Uh no.."
"You totally did." I chuckle.
"Let's just get you to class before hag bag writes you up for being late." He changes the subject. He lets go of my hand and I frown at the loss of connection, but he then puts his arm around my waist kind of possessively.
"Uh she'd write you up too."
"Nope. With my good looks she'd never write me up." God has he always been so full of himself?
"Have you always been this conceited?" I ask as he walks me over to my seat.
"Yup." He says not missing a beat.
I roll my eyes sitting down, instead of sitting in his seat he takes the seat beside me.
By some miracle hag bag didn't write him up for sitting in the wrong spot.
By the end of the day, I was tired and feeling a little sick. "Was it too much?" He asks opening the door for me.
"Hm?" I say getting in.
"Was school too much for you?" He crouches beside me.
"Maybe, but it's fine." I shake my head.
"Shortcake, if it's too much then you need to stay home and rest. I don't want you to over due it." He reaches up and strokes my face.
"I'm fine." I assure him.
"I have a feeling even if you weren't you wouldn't tell me." He sighs.
"You'd be right." I chuckle.
He rolls his eyes closing the door and driving me home. He helps me into bed and lays beside me again.
"You don't have to stay here." I roll my eyes.
"But I want to stay here with you." He says.
"You'd won't even kiss me like you used to." I roll my eyes at him.
"I don't want to hurt you shortcake." He says gently.
"Yeah." I huff rolling over so my back was towards him.
"Don't be mad at me." He pokes my back trying to get a reaction out of me.
"Not mad. Just tired." I mumble. It wasn't necessarily a lie.
"Well get some sleep." He gets up placing a gentle kiss on my head before leaving. I stare at the closed door. I end up just laying in bed all day until I fall asleep.
