~Agreements~"This time is different. She hasn't shown any signs of improvement. I don't know how much longer I can afford this." Her dad says.
"I have the money, I'll pay the bills, please don't give up on her." I beg.
"Fine, but at some point, we have to let her go if that's what she wants." He says before leaving.
I take her limp hand in mine listening to the beeping in the machine. "Listen here shortcake, you better wake your ass up now. Your dad and brother are suffering missing you. I miss you. Please just wake up." I beg.
It was the same speech I gave her everyday for a month. At this point I was the only one still fighting for her. "Please just give me any sign you're there." I close my eyes listening and feeling for anything.
I sigh standing up. "Prom is coming up. I was going to ask you. Of courses you'd probably say maybe or I don't know and make me work it. But you'd eventually say yes. Then on the big day, I'd rent a limo and all our friends would go together.
You'd look stunning no doubt. You'd win prom queen, even though you'd hate the attention. Of course if win and be your king."
I sigh again opening my eyes. "I still think about the baby, our baby. What she or he would look like. Whose attitude would it have? I need you to wake up so we can have our family, hell if you wake up and dump my sorry ass that's fine too. As long as you're here. I have to go now. My lunch is almost over and if I miss anymore school I won't graduate. I love you." I kiss her head and leave.
I hated going to school, everyone looked at me with pity. It use to be fear. "Hey man." Alex greets.
"Hey."
"How is she?" He asks.
"The same. Her dad wants to pull the plug because of the bills, but I told him I'd pay for them." I admit.
"Damn dude I'm sorry." He pats my back.
"She is still in there, I know she is. She is just being a stubborn ass." I sigh running my hands through my hair.
"That sounds like Tatum." He chuckles. "But how are you? I know when you found out about, you know the baby that really fucked with your head."
"I'm getting better. I figure it just wasn't our time yet." I shrug. I thought about it every single day.
"Well, I have to say that girl is a fighter." He says.
"Damn right she is." I chuckle as we walk down the hall.
Her friends visited everyone in awhile, but it was so hard on them. They'd always cry and hug each other.
"So what are we doing for prom?" Maddie asks nervously.
"You guys should go and have fun." I say.
"What about you? You know you can't sit by her bedside the rest of your life. What if she never wakes up?" Laura asks.
"Then I'll be there for her, for the rest of my life." I say.
