"Have you lost your damn mind!?" Chandrapratap yelled angrily. "Please, calm down Mr. Duhaan. Do not forget that you are in the court." The Judge rebuked him sharply and turned to Devaki. "Miss Devaki, what is your basis?" Judge asked. "You are to give us the proofs."
"I do have proofs, Your Majesty." Devaki said confidentaly. "But before that, I would like to ask Mr Chaitanya some questions." She said confidentally. "You may go ahead, Miss Devaki." The Judge said.
Devaki walked to Chaitanya, who looked at her with clenched jaw. "Mr Chaitanya, What was your relationship with Mrs Apoorva Rajawat, before she got married?" Chaitanya looked up, and Parthveer looked up as well, blinking.
When Chaitanya didn't speak, Devaki questioned again. "Mr. Chaitanya, what was your relationship with Mrs Apoorva? Because as per what I found, you were quite close." She said and Chaitanya looked towards Aalisha, who looked away in shame. Taking a deep breath, Chaitanya nodded. "I was her best friend, as she was mine." He said and Parthveer tilted his head.
Apoorva had told him that she was close to Chaitanya Singh Duhaan before her marriage, but he just.. left. She tried reaching out many times, but when she got cold shoulder she just left pursuing. Devaki mused and leaned in a little, "Were you in love with her?" Her question made Parthveer snap his head up.
Chaitaya paled, the color on his face draining rapidly. "W-what?" He squeaked out, his eyes wild. "N-No! I was not!" He exclaimed. "Stop sprouting nonsense." He growled out. "Its not nonsense when your sister confirmed it and-" She flashed a leather bound diary. "I have proofs." Chaitanya made move to snatch it but Devaki turned and went to Judge's assistant.
"Your Majesty, Young Prince Chaitanya Singh Duhaan and Princess Apoorva Kanwar were childhood friends, a friendship that turned to a one sided love from the young Duhaan's side. Before he could ask though, Mrs Apoorva fell in love with the young Head of Jaipur Family and married him, breaking Chaitanya's heart." Devaki said as Judge skimmed through contents.
"Ms Rajadhyaksh, how is this linked to Ms Latika being the murderer of Mrs Apoorva?" Judge asked.
"Because in the very wedding party of Mr and Mrs Rajawat, Latika saw My client Parthveer Singh Rajawat for first time." Devaki said, making a fresh wave of murmur ring. The Judge thumped the table twice. "I have a witness, if you may." When Judge nodded, Faiza slowly came with a Police constable and Latika froze. No...
"Ms Faiza, you swear to speak truth?" The Book was in front of Faiza who gulped and nodded, quickly repeating words. "So Miss Faiza, would you like to tell the court everything you told me?" Faiza nodded before turning to the Judge.
"Your Majesty, I and Latika Baisa had been friends since long. She had told me everything. One day, she told me that she found Rana sa Hukum good looking, who was recently married. At first, I brushed it off as minor crush. But her obsession kept growing. She started talking about how she will marry Hukum sa once Ranisa Hukum died, which unsettled me. I tried talking some sense, but it didn't work. Then, I got the scholarship to study abroad, and I left Chandergarh. When I returned, I found out that Ranisa is dead and Latika looked very calm, but also happy. She indulged in me that now no one was going to stop her." Faiza trailed off, not looking at Latika. Latika meanwhile had her head ducked, shameful and horrified. She had planned that murder so nicely, then how the fuck did that Devaki-bitch found out!?
Saanjh looked at everything in disbelief, unable to trust with how things suddenly changed. Chaitanya was innocent? But how? Thankfully, Kushagra asked. "Ms Devaki, may I know why are you putting such baseless accusations on my Client's family? What solid proof do you have that my Client's daughter Miss Latika Singh Duhaan had killed Mrs Apoorva?" Kushagra asked, although his eyes betrayed his worry for Devaki which he masked.
"Who said I don't have proof?" Devaki mused and took out a zipbag with a disc. "This, is proof." She mused and gave it to the assistant, who played it. Everyone watched as how after the truck slammed in Apoorva's car and went, a figure tried to come out of the car, all bloodied. Parthveer's heart stopped when he saw Apoorva trying to move from the crushed metal, when another of Car came to a stop. Latika stepped out and crouched near Apoorva's half stuck form, and spoke something. Then she opened the bonnet and took out a rod, sauntering towards the injured woman slowly.
Parthveer shut his eyes tightly, feeling a hand enclosing in his own. When he opened his eyes, they were full of tears as he looked at Saanjh, who was crying as well but she shook her head slowly and he took a deep breath, looking ahead as he watched Devaki turn to Judge. "My Lord, the CCTV footage was hidden, but whoever did, did a poor job. It was in recycle bin." She said.
Everything was silent. Drop a pin and you can hear it, it was that silent.
Until a gunshot sounded.
and Parthveer's face splattered with blood.
