"I should probably start charging them for using the space in general." Emily says, arms crossed as she looks through our window to see Richelle teaching some chorography to the team. "It's not like they're a-troupe anymore."
"Would help with my pay anyway. Considering I was practically booted out of the room when I tried to help. Eh, at-least b-troupe have their own competition coming up soon." I say, trying to find anything to work on.
"Hm, I'll try and find something for you, don't worry. You heard from Heath by the way, he didn't come in today?" She breaks her attention away from the dancers to look at me.
"Yeah, texted that he spent most of the night throwing up."
Not that I believe that whatsoever. He hasn't said anything yet about what happened after Maria left yesterday, but I can tell he isn't excited about this news. I invited him to spend the night at mine if he wanted to talk, but he turned it down. I just wish he'd tell me how he actually is for once.
"You believe him?" She asks. "I saw him hug you yesterday. Very subtle by the way." At the end she smirks at me, and I really don't know why.
"Subtle? About what?" Of-course, all she does is tut and go back to her watching. "Whatever. Anyway, we have to tell Absolute Dance soon that we won't-"
Wait a minute.
"We never sent in their names." I burst out, making Emily jump a little.
"Huh, I uh...what?"
"A-troupe! Or whatever we're calling them now. We've only been preparing for around a month, so we haven't gotten around to submitting our team yet!" I elaborate.
"Which means we can make a new a-troupe that are eligible to compete at Nationals!" Emily joins in. "Oh my God! Noah, you're a genius!"
Both of us are grinning wide at each-other and it's nice. This is the happiest I've seen Emily in the last few weeks. I actually like spending time with her like this when she isn't getting weighed down by her relationship.
"Okay, okay. We have to hold auditions. When is a good time?" She grabs her laptop and starts it up.
"Maybe Saturday next week? Gives people more notice to free-up the day and means the notice will be able to get more traction."
"Good idea. So then, um.." She bolts out of her seat and swings her bag over her shoulder. "I'm going to head to Arts & Hobby to get some supply to make posters that we can put around the city. I'd send Nick, but that little shit has barely been helping at all this week."
I try to hide my grimace when she mentions that name. Just nodding seems to do fine and she copies the motion, then heads out the door with a squeak of excitement.
I've decided to start drafting up some information that we can put on the announcement, when I get and idea. Should I? He mightn't want to.
Before I can talk myself out of it, I pull up my messages with Heath:
Noah - "Hey man. I have some news that you might be interested in."
