(Flashback)
Emily
"I'm so proud of you." I immediately tell her when she comes into my room.
We could all say it was such a relief when Richelle bet her opponent and got us to round 3 of the competition. But, I always knew she would. That's why I picked her after-all.
Even Michelle, for how much they fight, was adamant she got the solo.
"Thanks, Em." She says, hugging me back for a few seconds. I know she's not the biggest fan of them. So, it always means a lot when she gives one.
Cupping her cheek with a hand, I smile at her and ruffle some of her blonde waves. She swats me away with a pout, but giggles at the action.
"So, what are you here for?" I ask, inviting her to take a seat on my Michelle and I's bed. Michelle has gone out to do a bit of early shopping with my sister, Riley, around town, so I know she won't be back for awhile.
"Just wanted to thank you for giving me the opportunity. I've wanted to do this since I was a kid. And it hurt last year that, even with Riley leaving the team, Kate gave the female solo to Michelle. So, um...yeah"
Richelle is not exactly the best at thanking people for stuff. Trust me, I've known her since she was 5. So, it takes a lot for her to do something like this.
"You don't need to say it. I've just always seen your potential and decided to do what Kate was too blind to." I rest her head on my shoulder as I wrap my arm around her strong shoulders.
It's nice like this. Just cuddling with the girl I've seen like a little sister all my life, after a, pretty stressful, day.
We lay there in silence for a few moments, releasing all our built-up energy. After a minute though, Richelle decides to break it.
"Hey, Emily?" Her voice is so gentle that I almost don't hear her.
When I tilt down to look at her, I find that she is gazing right at me. Hm?
Instead of asking, I just cock my head a bit to prompt her to continue. But, she doesn't. She just keeps staring at me.
It's only after a few seconds do a realise that...she isn't looking at me eyes. Her attention is lower down.
Right on my lips.
No part of me is able to think about what is happening, before I feel the warm, soft embrace of her own covering mine. What is she doing?!
My eyes go wide, and I just look at her, while she has her eyes closed and is kissing me as if this is some incredible, magical moment.
I don't know what to do. For what is possible the first time in my life, I'm completely stunned. Both my brain and heart have nothing inside them
There is something flickering in my lower abdomen, but I'm not sure on what that even in.
Richelle just keeps kissing me. Keeps pressing her lips to mine as if this is something she has dreamt about for awhile and is finally acting on.
She only stops when both of us hear a piece of glass hit the ground.
Michelle stands at the doorway, looking at us is horror, while Richelle jumps right off me. Like that will help.
"You...I...I can't believe you, Em." That is the moment when everything hits me. Seeing my girlfriend. The person I love more than anything, looking like her heart has been smashed by a hammer.
All because of me.
As soon as she slams the door closed again, I rush off the bed, shoving Richelle so hard that she falls of the bed and lands on her hip.
If I was thinking about anything other than Michelle, I might have noticed the cracking sound and the yelp she let out.
Instead, I now look down at her in complete and utter disgust.
"I fucking hate you!"
