"Are you sure you don't want to-"

"I'm sure, Emily."

"Really? Cause I don't mind you taking the day off if you need to-"

"Emily, please. I'm alright to work today. I need this right now. It helps me take my mind off of...you know."

Nobody in the studio has said they've seen Nick since yesterday, so hopefully he got Emily's message. She actually offered for me to spend the night at hers, but I declined. I felt like I would just be a burden on her that she doesn't need.

I had scheduled today to hold the solo auditions. We have less time than before to prepare for National, so we need to decide who is in each dance ASAP. This will also be a good way to not let me think about everything that happened.

For the most part anyway. Seeing Heath when I came in today just made me remember that other thing. I haven't talked to him since it. I want to. I do. He's one of my best-friend's and I don't want whatever that was to fuck that up.

But I'm just not in the best mental space right now. Later. Maybe later...

"Alright, if you want to, then I guess I won't stop you. Just...let me know if it get's too much, okay? I can stop whatever I'm doing and take over."

Why was I even questioning if Emily is still my friend?

She let's out a noise of surprise as I hug her. But, she returns the gesture for a few seconds before letting me go.

While my head is able to look behind her, my eyes lock on her phone and I feel like I need to ask.

"Anyway, moving on to...something else. How are you and Michelle?"

This makes her also turn back to what I was looking at, and then sigh.

"Eh, don't worry about that." There is a casual smile on her face, but it isn't fooling me. Not for a minute.

"Emily, you can-"

"I said we're fine, so we are. Now, why don't you get started on those auditions? You came in today for a reason."

She has spun me around and pushed me out the door before I can even get another word in. A few a-troupers look over to me when I stumble in, but I just wave them off and walk to the front of the room.

As I start reading over the names of the sign-up list, which I had put up yesterday before our first rehearsal, I can't help but peak over them at the office.

Emily is now sat at the desk, but instead of typing away at her laptop as usual, she just has her head in her hands. I wish I could do something for her, just like she has been doing for me. But, as I've said before, I've never been sure on what is going through Michelle's head, so I don't know where to start.

All l know is is that I'm really starting to think Emily deserves someone better.
