"What are you all looking at?" I asked with furrowed brows as I walked into the lounge and caught everyone looking out of the glass doors that led to the balcony.

"Nothing, no one," Steve told me as everyone quickly turned around to very obviously distract me.

With his hand on my shoulder, I pushed him off me and stepped through the crowd the team had formed to look over at Wanda who was stood on the edge of the balcony, looking ahead.

"What the fuck is she doing?" Stark asked quietly.

"Is she going to jump?" Peter added.

"She can fly, what would she get out of that?" Clint joined in.

"You all fucking useless," I cursed.

Shoving my way through them, I pushed open the door before stepping outside and closing it behind me, closing the blinds with my abilities to stop them all watching.

"You thinking about jumping?" I asked from behind her as she exhaled shakily and turned to look at me for the first time in a week, her eyes deep and dark with a sorrow that made me feel nauseous.

"Get away from me," she replied sharply, moving to sit down on the ledge with her legs hanging over the side.

I lifted myself up with my abilities and sat down next to her, looking down at my palm.

"I'd love to but everyone thinks you're suicidal and they're too scared to come out here themselves so-"

"You're a fucking coward Y/N," she cut me off abruptly as I looked up at her, "I went into your room earlier ... I know I shouldn't have but I wanted my hoodie back and you weren't in there so I went in."

"This is about your hoodie?" I checked.

"No I didn't find the hoodie," she told me, "I did however find a book you really shouldn't be keeping in your wardrobe."

I exhaled sharply and nodded, looking back out onto the city below us.

"The Darkhold? What the fuck were you thinking? Or were you not?"

"You don't get it," I whispered.

"Trust me, I get it more than anyone else but this is not the way; do you know how dangerous that book is? I assume you do because it all makes sense now, why you've been so off and why you're so fucking emotionless, it's like you're not even human anymore. There's no part of you that doesn't trace back to the effects of dark magic and that terrifys me because you don't see it, you can't see what you've become as a result-"

"I did it for you," I cut her off this time, not daring to meet her eyes, "not just you, for everyone, but mainly for you ... I just wanted to be in control of my own life for a change. Once I knew the Darkhold was the only way, I needed it, I had to at least try."

"How did you even get it?"

"The witches road," I whispered, nodding slowly to myself.

She laughed slightly in disbelief and shook her head, "of course."

"There's pages and pages about me in it, I just wanted to rewrite the stupid prophecy but then I kept reading and I thought ... if I can not only do that but have the power to protect you for the rest of your life then why would I not? If I can gain the power to look after everyone I love, I'm going to do it," I exhaled slowly, "I just wanted to protect you."
