Y/N's POV

As the team backed off slightly, I edged toward Strange who was ready for my attack, the time stone open and ready for the taking.

"I think you'll find removing a deadman's spell troublesome," he told me.

"Stop being so cocky," I huffed, kicking his feet out from under him as he fell to the floor, his cloak catching him and pushing him back up in time for me to wrap my abilities around him, restraining his arms legs and throat.

With a click of his fingers, the stone opened again and he effortlessly slipped out of my hold, planting one small hit on my chest and pushing my spirit out of my body.

"You think I don't know what to do with this?" I asked him sarcastically, drifting back into my body with an amused smile as I pulled a shining knife out of my belt, "you see, the Darkhold has showed me all kinds of things."

"Apparently so," he quipped as I heard Wong running up from behind me.

With a sigh, a turned around and stopped him with a click of my fingers, dropping him hard to the ground and growing the roots from around him to keep him down.

"Where was I?" I asked Strange, turning back around.

"You lost me a while ago," he replied.

"Me, you, Darkhold, time stone ... ringing any bells yet doctor?" I raised my brows, "I need that stone and I've asked politely, I've tried to be kind about it but you didn't want that ... you've bought this on yourself."

"Come and get it then," he said calmly, dropping his powers and placing his hands to his side.

"Nice try but I'm not that much of an idiot," I raised my brows, using the same power I did to beat Wong, I pushed him into the ground as he landed on his knees, his arms and legs restrained by vines that had sprouted around us.

"Y/N/N!" Wanda shouted from behind me.

"Do you really want her to see this?" he asked me.

"Shut up," I exhaled, "every single thing I've done today is to protect her, I need that stone so I can stop anything bad that's going to happen to her from happening, I need your power and I can't wait anymore."

"Think of what they'll think of you-"

"They already think it, stop stalling," I scoffed, twirling my knife in my hand as footsteps came running toward me from behind, the footsteps of the team.

Putting up my own shield with my abilities, I encased myself and Strange in a bubble they could not reach and therefore I couldn't hear them but I knew Wanda was crying, I could feel how upset she was but as soon as this was done, she'd understand why I did it. This was the worst part but it was the start of our future, it would mean that nothing bad could ever happen to her or our family, it was the ultimate protection but unfortunately it came with a small price to pay.

"How certain are we that I'll take over from you?" I asked, lightly placing my knife at this throat as he looked up at me with a heavy breath.

"How much are you willing to risk?" he replied with a wince when I pressed the blade harder, a small trickle of blood dripping down onto his robes.

"I've already lost it all," I told him softly, "I don't relish in hurting anyone Stephen, but this is for the greater good."

"You're pretty hesitant for someone-"

"Yep," I cut him off, slicing the blade over the thin skin of his throat as the blood trickled down his neck and his breathing slowly levelled, my shield dropping down when I felt a rush of power hit me, knocking me down to the floor.

"Y/N/N!" Wanda shouted, running to my side and cupping my cheek, "hey, it's okay, you're okay?"

I nodded slowly as she looked up to the rest of the team, all silent and staring at the former sorcerer supreme.

"He's dead," I heard Beka exhale.

"Like you've never killed someone," I coughed.

"Not like this," she sighed.

"Someone pass me the stone," I groaned, moving to sit up as Stark grabbed my wrists and pinned them together.

Bucky hummed a no and stood between me and Strange.

"It's mine," I barked.

"The last thing you should have is an infinity stone," Nat added.

"I'm not going to forget what belongs to me," I bit back.

"Wanda, you have to-" Nat started again.

"No," my girl shook her head quickly, looking up at the team with sad eyes, "I can't."

"You're the only one with the power," Nat sighed with sad eyes, "you know you are."

"I can't do that to her," Wanda breathed out, her chin quivering.

"It shouldn't be you, but it is," Steve agreed.

Wanda shook her head slowly as she looked back at me with a sad tilt of her head.

"They want you to wipe my memory," I concluded.

"Please give me another choice," she cried softly, standing up to cup my cheeks.

"I don't know who I am anymore," I admitted quietly.

She nodded in response, "you're my everything. You are a body of flesh and blood and bone that I've come to adore. You are my sadness and my hope. But mostly, you're my love."

With a small quiver of my chin, I looked around at the team, all looking either sad or scared of the person I have turned into.

"I love you so much Wanda ... it's okay," I exhaled.

"I can't-" she cried softly.

"Orders are orders Maximoff," I smiled slightly as she laughed out her nose and leaned forward to place a single, lingering kiss on my forehead, "our time is up."

"I love you so so much," she whispered with a quiver of her bottom lip, her hands shaking.

"We've said goodbye before," I told her softly as my tears blurred my vision, her chin stuttering on her beautiful face.

"So we'll say hello again," she replied sadly, her own tears falling from the side of her eyes, her hand shaking where it was cupping my cheek, looking down at me as I knelt on the floor in front of her, letting my eyes fall shut as her scarlet abilities carefully warped my mind, forcing every single memories of the past year to fade into nothing.

And when my mind was blank, the final thing I could see was those deep green eyes before those too became nothing.
