Chapter 58- F*ck Around and Find Out

August 2nd, 2018:

We had had an incredibly busy couple of weeks as soon as we touched down back in Seoul. We filmed the music video for Idol, had meeting after meeting for the tour, where I had convinced them to add a Montréal tour date, and attended other meetings about partnerships and the comeback. We were being kept so busy there was no time for me to feel too depressed and lonely. It also meant I wasn't making as much music in my studio anymore and I almost felt like I was getting withdrawal symptoms from it.

Today, we were meeting with Hyundai to finalise the partnership and for them to come pitch the ad to us. We were to meet in the main large meeting room at 2pm, but I had a meeting with Running Man producers for the episode I was going to participate in beforehand, so I was one of the last to join. I wasn't late but most people who had to be in the meeting were already seated.

"Sorry, I'm here," I said walking in quickly and taking a seat in one of the final seats left.

I look up the table at everyone seated and my eyes go wide in shock when I see who's seated with the Hyundai crew. I accidentally let out a laughing scoff before putting my hand over my mouth making it seem like a cough. But she had seen, and she didn't seem impressed. In fact, she seemed quite upset that I remembered her. I was legitimately finding it hard to not burst out laughing at this situation and how great it made me feel.

"Alright, now that all the members are here," our head of marketing said after Namjoon walked in apologising for being late, "why don't we get started. We're here to talk about the Palisade commercial for our Hyundai partnership. We have some people from Hyundai here to give us more details. I'll hand it over to you guys".

"Hello, I'm Jee Sunghoon, head of marketing for Hyundai Korea," a tall handsome man stood up flattening his suit.

"I'm Kim Ryumin, director of project management for Hyundai Korea," another, shorter man said standing up also introducing himself.

"Hi everyone, I'm Kim Haeyoung, head manager of marketing for the new Palisade dossier," a woman followed, standing up and bowing.

"And I'm Park Binna, assistant to Jee Sunghoon, I'll be taking notes today," Binna stood up quickly bowing before sitting back down.

I bit my tongue forcing myself not to laugh. The way she had told me about her job she had made it seem like she was working in marketing herself, not an assistant to a marketer. After everything I knew of Binna, the self-entitlement and sh*tty personality she had, I was happy to feel like I was finally in a position where I could have power over her, unlike in the past. Jimin nudges me giving me a confused look probably because of my weird smile, I just shake my head gesturing my head forward telling him to focus on the presentation.

The meeting itself was uneventful and the Hyundai staff had come very prepared. I thought that marketing us as a "family" to global families was quite smart, especially for a big car like the Palisade. However, I had made a point to make a long, convoluted comment with several English phrases just to make Binna's work a little more challenging. It didn't really have a point to it other than that. Most of the boys had given me weird looks as I commented given my comments were usually quite concise and to the point. When the meeting ended, I went to shake everyone's hands making sure to get to Binna last.
