The Joza's House, Bel-Air (Sunday, October 22nd, 2023 - 06:30pm)
i settled back into my bed, freshly showered and exhausted, with a half-watched scream marathon playing on my tv and a stack of chocolate chip cookies by my side. yesterday's halloween party; courtesy of the anderson twins; had drained every last ounce of energy, but it was worth it. i was just about to dive back under the covers when the family meeting alarm blared, snapping me right out of my cozy state.
"are you kidding me?" i groaned, reluctantly pushing myself up. the alarm was no joke; it meant everyone had to report to the living room, no exceptions. just then, i heard footsteps speeding down the hall, and soon enough, pearce and braulio, appeared at my door, looking way too energized for a sunday evening.
"family meeting, let's go!" pearce announced, sounding way too excited.
i followed them down the hall, passing mackenzie and nicole looking as equally groggy as i felt. the whole family was already gathered in the living room when we got there. mum stood by the fireplace, hands clasped, looking at us with that 'this is important' smile. dad was next to her, nodding along with his usual reassuring, yet slightly mischievous, grin.
"now that we're all here," mum began, glancing around the room. "we wanted to go over the plans for the next two months."
dad chimed in, looking around with a knowing smile. "as you all know, we're heading into a busy season. halloween's around the corner, so we have a few family events lined up."
"and then," mum continued, looking directly at me, "cam's new movie, family switch, is set to premiere on netflix in november. that means red carpets, interviews, and lots of press."
i felt a rush of excitement at the mention of the movie. family switch had been such a blast to film, and the premiere was something i'd been looking forward to for ages.
"but it's not just about cam," mum said, glancing at my sisters. "kenzie's gymnastic season is coming to an end, at least for this year. finals are coming up. nini has football games and practices, so do pearce and braulio. it's going to be non-stop through the holidays."
mackenzie gave me a playful elbow. "looks like we're all in the spotlight this season."
"then, at the end of november you guys have your winter spirit week. after that cam's leaving with the laeno's for nicole's birthday." dad continued. "remember cj, you're flying straight to new york from cabo for the pjo premiere."
