Xander's POV:
I instructed Gio to train Linder, noticing the spark of interest in his eyes.
I felt a pang of unease, hoping Gio's feelings wouldn't compromise our mission.
Next, I contacted Julia Silver, my half-brother and ally of Dyle Stewart.
I explained our plan, and Julia agreed to help, his voice filled with determination.
He also contacted other allies of Dyle Stewart. And everyone was so keen on taking Dyle down so we joined forces.
We convened at my warehouse for a grand meeting. Our primary objective: rescue Avery without revealing our identities to Dyle.
My heart raced at the thought of Avery's safety.
Afterward, Gio and Linder entered my office. Her ponytail and fitted black attire radiated confidence, and I felt a surge of pride.
"She's better than expected, boss," Gio said, clutching his ribs with a grin.
I smiled, relieved. "Excellent."
Gio informed her, "Your room's ready, equipped with everything you need."
Linder's eyes lit up. "Thanks, Gio."
But then she said, "I should head home now."
Gio's face fell. "Why?"
"My house is across from Avery's," she replied, her voice laced with concern. "I'll spy and provide vital information."
Her suggestion impressed me, and I felt a sense of hope. She was smarter than I thought.
Gio offered, "I'll drop you off. It's late."
I handed her a walkie-talkie. "Stay updated. Stay safe."
She bid farewell, and they left. I sighed, sinking into my sofa, feeling anxious.
"I hope Avery's safe," I whispered, my heart aching. "If anyone harms her, I'll kill them.
Avery's mine, and I'll do anything to protect her....
