Xander's POV
As Gio drove us back home, I seethed with rage, still fuming from the encounter.
Gio's gentle voice cut through my anger, "Hey, Xander, calm down."
His reassuring whisper was accompanied by a firm squeeze of my hand.
"You know your dad doesn't show up without a reason," I snapped, my voice trembling with resentment.
Gio's words only fueled my fury.
"My dad?" I spat, disgust and hatred etched on my face. "He's the monster who killed my mom!"
Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes as memories flooded back.
Gio's expression turned sympathetic, but his words were laced with the harsh reality of our world.
"He's still your dad, Xander." His tone was soft, but firm.
"Calm down," Gio urged, as I felt my anger boiling over again.
"Our motto is 'Mafia before love,' " Gio reminded me, his voice devoid of emotion.
But I couldn't shake off the pain. "He never loved my mom," I said, my voice cracking.
A lone tear escaped, rolling down my cheek. "She cried herself to sleep in the bathroom every night, hiding the bruises he left on her skin."
The memories still haunted me.
Gio remained silent, letting me process my emotions as we arrived home.
As we stepped inside, the tense atmosphere shifted. Linder and Avery were engrossed in a playful chase, oblivious to our presence.
Avery collided with me, startled, and Linder's laughter filled the room. I caught her with my one hand and grabbed the tray with the other.
"Oh my goodness! I felt terrible for staring, but she simply giggled. Her radiant smile instantly lifted my mood.
I struggled to resist the urge to draw her near and kiss her passionately.
As she stood up straight and took the tray, I couldn't help but notice how stunning she looked in that adorable dress.
Her beauty left me breathless. I found myself drooling over her. I instantly became hard down there.
I stared at her closely admiring every inch of her skin. Dinner is ready!! Linder called.
Avery went to the dining room and I felt a sense of loneliness...
