After that, Dino tried to ignore Rosi as much as he could. He made sure not to go to the mall or the lakeside very often. He had enough chances to go there without Pietro knowing, but Dino didn't want to betray Pietro by doing something he asked him not to do. Most weekends, Dino stayed at Kacper's house or invited his friends over. Kacper and the others wondered why Dino didn't want to go to the lakeside or mall like before, and Dino said he was fed up with always going there.
What Dino didn't know was that Pietro had been spying on him. He wanted to make sure Rosi wouldn't talk to Dino again. If she ever tried, Pietro planned to warn her himself.
It didn't take long for him to do just that.
It was another weekend, and Dino was tired of staying indoors for almost a month. Even Kacper and May kept asking why he didn't want to go out. Dino finally decided to go to the mall that weekend.
The sky looked gray like it was about to rain, but Dino's urge to go out was too strong. So he went to the mall alone. Kacper and May couldn't come because they had to attend a family party.
At the mall, it started to rain. Because of the rain, there weren't as many people there as usual. Dino felt isolated. He went to his favorite restaurant to eat something. For the first time, he was alone there. He ordered food and was sitting, eating by himself when Rosi showed up.
"Dino, I haven't seen you in about a month. Are you okay? I called you and sent you messages," Rosi said.
"I had to study," Dino replied. He remembered what Pietro had said, but when she came and talked to him, he couldn't be rude and ignore her.
"Are you alone today?" Rosi asked.
"Yes, Kacper and May went to a party," Dino said.
"Do you mind if I sit here?" Rosi asked, and Dino said it was okay.
The spy that Pietro had hired saw Dino and Rosi together and immediately called Pietro, who was at home that day. Pietro got mad, grabbed his car keys, and drove to the mall, even though it was raining. When he arrived, Dino and Rosi were just finishing their lunch.
Pietro told the spy to keep an eye on Rosi because he wanted to talk to her alone. So the spy focused on watching Rosi and later told Pietro that she was in the park, about to leave.
—
When Dino went to the car park, he saw in the distance a man and a woman arguing. He immediately noticed it was Rosi and Pietro. Pietro looked furious, throwing his hands in the air as he talked. The parking lot was empty except for the three of them. Dino slowly approached, curious about what they were arguing about.
"Don't talk to him ever again," Pietro said.
"Why not, Pietro? You can't stop me from talking to him. I'm going to court," Rosi replied.
"Oh really? You're going to court? Why do you suddenly want him after you threw him away, Roselia? You gave up on him as soon as he was born, and now you want him? You left him with the Johnsons, and you didn't care when he was suffering there. Now, all of a sudden, you care?" Pietro shouted, and Dino felt like he had gone deaf. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Rosi was Roselia, his mom, and she had given him to the Johnsons.
"Pietro, stop yelling at me. Listen to me," Rosi pleaded.
"Listen to what? Stay away from my son. I know what you're trying to do behind my back. You're trying to be friendly with him and take him away from me, right? Why? Did you suddenly feel guilty about what you did? Did you give him up because he's my son? You hated me that much? Well, it's too late, Roselia. It's too late. Stay away from my son," Pietro said firmly, cutting Rosi off. She kept trying to interrupt, but Pietro's voice was louder and stronger.
