Dino came back home. He was happy to have bought so many things for himself. Dino purchased a lot of clothes, shoes, bags, watches, and more. Pietro didn't even question him about why he bought so much stuff.
"Boss, you should get ready before 7 pm. The relatives will come for the party at 7," Luca said.
"What is the party about?" Dino asked.
"I guess it's because you came home," Luca said and went outside.
"What the hell does that mean? I am coming home? How the hell is this my home?" Dino came out of the room, screaming with anger. Luca was standing outside his room.
"It's your home. You are a Lombardi," Luca said. Dino looked at Luca carefully for the first time.
"I want to know the full story," Dino said, looking at Luca.
"Sorry, boss, I'm not a good storyteller. And I'm just a bodyguard. I am not in a position to tell you anything without permission," Luca said.
"Then get the damn permission and tell me," Dino said angrily, and to his surprise, Luca said, "Okay, boss," and left.
Luca came to the room after a few minutes. "Everyone is busy with the party, boss. I can't bother them as it's not that important," Luca said.
"How the hell is it not important? I want to know why I am here and why they are holding a party because I came here. It's important to me," Dino growled.
"Boss, I don't think Don or Mr. Pietro wanted me to tell you about any family matters. So I can't tell you anything. They'll tell you," Luca said again. He looked uncomfortable right now.
"Okay then. Until someone tells me why I'm here, I'm not going to come to that party," Dino said, lying on the bed and closing his eyes.
"Boss, you need to get ready," Dino heard Luca saying.
"I'm not coming, man. I'm not," Dino said, still closing his eyes, and he heard Luca leave the room, closing the door.
After a few minutes, someone came into the room angrily without even knocking on the door. Dino didn't bother to open his eyes and look at them. He just lay there on his stomach as if he were sleeping.
"Dino, wake up," it was Rocco. He sounded a bit angry.
"Hey, Mr. Rocco," Dino said in a sarcastic tone.
"Luca said you don't want to come to the party. You can't miss the party. "Every relative came here because of you, and you're going to ignore them all?" Rocco complained, and Dino's anger increased to sky-high.
"I don't want to come to a party where I don't know anyone. And I don't even know why I'm here or how I'm a part of your family. Until I know everything, I won't come to that party," Dino said furiously.
"Errh, this Pietro. Why the hell didn't he tell you anything?" Rocco asked angrily.
"How the hell should I know?" Dino asked, throwing his hands up. He was so mad right now.
Rocco waited a few seconds, staring at Dino, and inhaled deeply. "Okay then. I'll tell you why the hell you're here. You are Pietro's son," Rocco said. "Okay, now you know why you're here. Quickly get up and get ready for the party. If you don't come, I'll drag you there myself," Rocco commanded, leaning towards Dino. Then Rocco left the room, leaving Dino confused.
"I need to know the whole story, you idiot," Dino screamed.
"Ask your father," Dino heard Rocco say. His voice sounded a bit distant as if he were descending the stairs.
Dino felt so angry and frustrated that no one would tell him what was happening. They were so disrespectful and treating him like some kind of fucking robot. The Johnsons and how they treated Dino came to mind, and he felt even more sad and frustrated. He had lived his entire life hiding all his pain with high hopes of going to college and escaping from the Johnsons. But now, things had turned upside down, and he still didn't know anything in detail. No one was respectful enough to tell him what was going on.
Dino hid his face in his palms, sitting on the bed, and started to cry with overwhelming feelings. How the hell could Pietro be his father? Pietro looked like he was in his mid-30s. Dino was 16. He wondered how old Pietro was when Dino was born. And where the hell had he been when the Johnsons mistreated Dino?
Dino felt someone place a hand on his shoulder, and when he looked up, he saw Luca staring at him. "Why are you crying?" Luca asked.
"Because they don't tell me anything. Rocco said I'm Pietro's son. What the fuck does that mean?" Dino asked Luca.
Luca looked into Dino's eyes and felt sad seeing his helpless expression. Luca sat near Dino and wrapped his arm around him. "That means you are his son," Luca said.
"Then where the hell has he been all this time?" Dino asked.
Luca thought for a bit and looked at the door. "Okay then. I'll tell you what I know. But don't betray me," Luca said, and Dino felt a little relieved.
"Okay, tell me. I won't betray you," Dino said, wiping tears from his eyes.
"Well, he didn't know about you until now. After they found out about you, they brought you home," Luca said.
"Exactly how did they know I'm his son?" Dino asked, surprised.
"DNA test," Luca said.
"They did a DNA test? When?" Dino asked.
"After they brought you here," Luca said.
"What would they have done if the DNA didn't match?" Dino asked.
"Take you back," Luca said. "So, you got answers now. Can you get ready?" Luca asked mechanically.
"Okay," Dino said, staring down. He realized that there was no point in fighting back.
Luca stared at Dino for a few seconds. He didn't want to stare at Dino that long. Luca was displeased about being chosen as the bodyguard for sixteen-year-old Dino because Dino reminded him of something Luca didn't want to think about, some memories that hurt him a lot. He felt like he wanted to comfort Dino and make him feel better, but who was he to console a Lombardi? So Luca stepped back. He hoped that he would not regret it one day. Luca regretted many things Luca hadn't done before. But he couldn't change the past. Luca always wished he could turn back the clock and correct all his mistakes.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" Luca snapped out of his memories at the sound of Dino's voice.
"Oh, nothing. Sorry, boss," Luca said in a weak voice.
"Why are you crying?" Dino asked Luca, surprised.
"I'm not crying, boss," "I'm not crying, boss," Luca said a bit angrily, touching his cheeks to check for tears. And there were no tears. Then why did Dino think Luca was crying? Then why did Dino think Luca was crying?
"Your eyes have tears like you're about to cry," Dino said again.
"Something fell in my eyes," Luca said. "Okay, boss. I'll leave the room.
You can change and come to the party," Luca said before exiting the room.
