Siege

It's already been a month, and I had been receiving private lessons from Yagoda on healing abilities. "You seem.. very determined to learn about healing. Are you not interested in fighting like Katara?" she asked me during a snack break.

".. the people who taught me bending, even if its me being stubborn, I want to stick to their teachings. It's all I got from them.." I smiled at Yagoda. "They died due to the war. They were the closest I got to a family.." I sighed. "If I knew how to heal back then, maybe at least one of them would still be with me today." I fiddled with the ends of my dress.

"I'm sorry to hear that." I felt a hand on my shoulder. "I'm sure they would be proud of the person you are today." she comforted me.

"Thanks." I smiled, resuming our lesson.

"(Y/n)! You have to come see this!" I turned seeing it was Katara and Aang. Behind them, I could see black snow.

"Fire Nation." I got to my feet, and the three of us ran outside. The drums began and everyone rushed to the main building.

"The day we have feared for so long has arrived. The Fire Nations on our doorstep. It is with great sadness I call my family before me. Knowing that some of these faces are about to vanish from our tribe. But never from our hearts." I looked around at the crowd, it was a lot of young benders and elderly benders, although great in number wouldn't be enough for the soldiers headed our way. "I call upon the great spirits. Spirit of the ocean, Spirit of the moon! Be with us! I'm going to need volunteers for a dangerous mission."

Sokka was the first to stand up. "Seriously?" I asked him.

"Be warned, many of you will not return. Come forward to receive my mark if you accept the task." Sokka walked up with the other warriors of the tribe.

Everyone was dismissed to start their own battle preparations. I kept my eyes on the horizon, the falling black ash had stopped. "Is it Zuko...no." I shook my head. The amount of ash falling from the sky had to be from a commanding officer that could lead an entire fleet. That was authority Zuko didn't have.

Many of us were stationed at the snowy gates. Then, the attack soon started with catapults. Everyone who wasn't knocked off was covered in the snow. I saw Aang fly off on Appa, most likely to try cut down the ships in the fleet.

"Thats not gonna be enough." I thought seeing one ship was stopped.

The entire day we continued to use bending to stop incoming catapult that came over the walls. I sighed as we stopped another fireball. Lifting myself up I could see the fleet seems to have stopped their advance. "What are you planning Zhao?" I thought, landing back on the ground.

"Repair what we can before the next attack." I looked at the other benders. "If he's smart enough to wait until morning, we might as well take advantage of the cease fire to build defenses." I said, bending snow and ice to repair any holes in the wall.

"Where is this?" I asked Momo as he continued dragging me through what seemed to be a shrine.

"Hand him over and I won't have to hurt you." I recognized Zuko's voice.

"Oh no." I quickly ran through the vegetation and saw Katara and Zuko fighting. Behind Katara was Aang in his Avatar state. "Princess Yue!" I ran over to the princess, making sure she was unhurt.

"I'm okay. Thank you." she smiled at me.

I stayed with Yue as Katara fended off Zuko. The sun soon came up, and I raised up a wall of ice. "Yue, go. Get help!" I told her as Zuko broke free of his restraints.

I followed Zuko's footsteps through the blizzard. It wasn't hard since he was dragging extra weight. "Woah." I paused seeing the broken ice. Stepping onto the water, ice formed under my feet as I made my way across. Reaching the other side, I lost his footprints. Looking around, I easily found a cave where he was likely to take shelter in. I looked at the broken ice behind me, and made an arrow in the water, hoping that if the others were coming, they would see it.
