Ruhi slumped onto her bed, her anger and frustration slowly giving way to regret. She thought about how she had misbehaved with her mother and brother, who had come home after eight long years.

"Why did I have to be so rude?" she wondered, feeling a pang of guilt.

Just as Ruhi was lost in thought, she saw her mother standing at the door, a warm smile on her face.

"Ruhi, beta, come have some milk," Nalini said, entering the room with a tray.

Ruhi looked up, feeling a mix of emotions. She didn't want to apologize yet, but her mother's kindness was hard to resist.

"Maa, I'm sorry," Ruhi said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I was wrong to yell at you."

Nalini's expression softened. "Its okay, beta ,I understand .Now, drink this milk and take your medicine."

Ruhi took the glass, feeling a lump form in her throat. Her mother's concern was a stark contrast to her own behavior.

Nalini began to explain, "Ruhi, beta, sneaking out isn't safe. You could have gotten hurt."

Ruhi nodded, avoiding eye contact. She didn't want to discuss it further.

Nalini continued, "Viren may seem strict, but he's only trying to help. He loves you, Ruhi."

Ruhi shrugged, pretending indifference. "I know, Maa."

Nalini's eyes lingered on Ruhi's face before she changed the subject. "Viren has worked hard on the project. He's proud of what he's accomplished, there were some  work priorities which compelled him to stay there and expand your father's business and now when he have returned at least he can expect you to behave "

Ruhi's gaze drifted away, her mind elsewhere. She knew about the project; her father had told her.

Nalini's voice grew gentle. "Ruhi, beta, you're tired. Sleep now. We'll talk more in the morning."

As Nalini's words washed over her, Ruhi felt her eyelids drooping. She snuggled into her mother's side, feeling safe and comforted.

Nalini wrapped her arms around Ruhi, holding her close. "My little girl," she whispered.

Ruhi's eyes fluttered closed, her breathing slowing. She was asleep in moments, her mother's warmth and love enveloping her.

Nalini sat there, holding Ruhi close, her eyes shining with tears. She knew that Ruhi's anger and hurt would take time to heal, but she was patient. For now, she was just grateful that Ruhi was safe and sound.
