Viren dialed Pradyuman's number, a smile spreading across his face.
"Hey, man! Long time no talk," Pradyuman answered.
Viren chuckled. "I know, I've been busy. But I'm back now. Come over for dinner tonight?"
Pradyuman agreed, and they finalized the plans.
Later that evening, the doorbell rang. Viren opened the door to find Pradyuman standing with a warm smile.
"Hey, buddy!" Viren said, embracing him.
As they walked in, Ruhi's eyes widened in shock. Pradyuman? The same officer who had lectured her?
Pradyuman's gaze met Ruhi's, but he didn't recognize her as Viren's sister. However, a faint memory stirred - a reckless young woman he had taught a lesson recently.
As they sat down for dinner, Ruhi's unease grew.
When Pradyuman and Ruhi were alone for a moment, Ruhi discreetly held her finger to her mouth, signaling him to stay quiet.
Pradyuman's eyes narrowed, understanding. He recalled their last encounter - the speeding, the attempted bribe. Ruhi's gesture was a plea to keep it hidden from Viren.
Viren didn't catch the exchange, but sensed something amiss. He decided to ignore it for now.
Over dessert, Viren reminisced about old times. "Remember when you used to come over, Pradyuman? Ruhi was just a kid then."
Pradyuman's expression remained neutral, but his mind whirled. This was the same girl he had reprimanded?
As the evening drew to a close, Ruhi walked Pradyuman out.
"Thank you, sir," Ruhi said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Pradyuman's eyes sparkled. "Not 'sir', Ruhi. Address me as Bhaiya."
Ruhi's cheeks flushed. "Thank you, Bhaiya."
Viren watched from the doorway, observing the exchange.
As Pradyuman left, Viren turned to Ruhi. "You okay? You seemed a bit uneasy around Pradyuman."

Ruhi shrugged. "Just surprised to see him, Bhaiya."
Viren's gaze lingered on Ruhi's face before nodding. "I'll talk to Pradyuman later. Get some rest."
Little did Ruhi know, her secret was safe for now. But Viren's curiosity was piqued, and Pradyuman's presence would only complicate things further.
As Ruhi retreated to her room, she couldn't shake off the feeling that her past mistakes would eventually catch up with her.
And Pradyuman's newfound presence in her life would ensure it.
