Tony couldn’t shake the ominous words: This was just the beginning. He stared at the message, every instinct screaming that they were running out of time. Whoever these people were, they had planned something far bigger than a simple kidnapping. Peter had been bait, and now, it was clear they had something much worse in store.
He tapped a few keys on the holographic keyboard, isolating the encrypted message. “F.R.I.D.A.Y., trace the origin of this transmission. I need to know where it came from.”
“Already working on it, boss. It’s bouncing through multiple relays—looks like whoever sent this didn’t want to be found.”
Tony frowned, his fingers tapping nervously on the desk. “Of course they didn’t. But we’ll find them.”
---
Across the Tower, Peter was sitting with MJ and Morgan, trying to distract himself with a movie. The TV played, but Peter wasn’t really watching. His mind kept wandering back to what had happened. The way the kidnappers had known everything about him, about Tony—this wasn’t just about money or revenge. They had a plan.
Morgan sat next to him, leaning her head on his shoulder. “You’re quiet today,” she said, her voice small.
Peter looked down at her and smiled softly. “Just thinking.”
“About what?”
Peter hesitated, glancing over at MJ, who was watching him closely. “Just… how to make sure nothing like this happens again,” he said, trying to keep his tone light.
Morgan frowned. “It won’t, right?”
Peter wanted to reassure her, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that something worse was coming. “Not if we can help it, Shark.”

Tony hadn’t left the workshop in hours, going through old files, digging up every connection he could think of. This wasn’t the first time someone had tried to come after him through his family, but something about this felt more calculated. More dangerous.
“Boss,” F.R.I.D.A.Y. interrupted his thoughts, “I’ve traced the origin of the message. It leads to a decommissioned Stark Industries facility outside of New York.”
Tony’s brow furrowed. “That can’t be right. That place has been shut down for years.”
“It appears someone’s been using it as a front. The message was sent through several encrypted channels, but that was the final relay point.”
Tony stood up, his mind racing. “Get the team. We’re going.”
---
An hour later, Tony stood in the briefing room with Steve, Natasha, Bucky, Sam, and Rhodey. The hologram of the abandoned facility hovered in the center of the room, its layout displayed in intricate detail.
“This facility was part of Stark Industries back when I was still running weapons,” Tony explained. “It’s been shut down for over a decade. But someone’s using it as a base of operations now.”
Steve crossed his arms, studying the map. “Any idea who’s behind it?”
Tony shook his head. “Not yet. But whoever they are, they’re organized. They managed to kidnap Peter without us even knowing until it was too late.”
Natasha leaned forward, her eyes narrowing. “This isn’t just a personal vendetta anymore. They’re planning something bigger. Something that involves more than just you or Peter.”
Tony nodded. “Exactly. And we need to figure out what before they make their next move.”
Rhodey spoke up, his voice calm but serious. “So what’s the plan?”
Tony looked around at his team, his mind already working through the possibilities. “We hit the facility. Quietly. We go in, gather intel, and figure out who’s pulling the strings. No big explosions, no heroics—just information. Once we know what they’re planning, we stop them.”
Steve gave him a nod of agreement. “We’ll need to be careful. If they’ve gone this far, they’re not going to stop until they’ve finished whatever they’ve started.”
Natasha smirked, already checking her gear. “When are they ever careful?”
---
Later that night, Peter found Tony in the workshop, suiting up for the mission. He stood in the doorway for a moment, watching as Tony adjusted the plates on his suit, deep in thought.
“Are you going after them?” Peter asked quietly.
Tony glanced over at him, his face softening for a moment. “Yeah. We think we found where they’re operating from.”
Peter walked further into the room, his hands stuffed in his pockets. “I want to go with you.”
Tony shook his head immediately. “No. You’re staying here, where it’s safe.”
Peter frowned, frustration bubbling up inside him. “I can help, Tony. I’m not a kid anymore.”
Tony sighed, standing up straight. “I know you’re not. But this is different, Peter. These people, they’re not playing by the same rules we are. They’ve already taken you once—I’m not letting it happen again.”
Peter bit his lip, wanting to argue, but he knew it was pointless. Tony was right. This wasn’t just about a fight; this was personal, and whoever was behind this wouldn’t hesitate to use Peter against him again.
“Fine,” Peter muttered, though the disappointment was clear in his voice.
Tony walked over to him, placing a hand on his shoulder. “We’ll get them, kid. I promise.”
Peter looked up at him, his eyes serious. “Be careful.”
Tony nodded, the weight of Peter’s concern sinking in. “I will.”

The Avengers moved in under the cover of darkness, their approach silent and coordinated. The decommissioned Stark facility was eerily quiet, its long-abandoned structures casting shadows in the moonlight.
Tony, in his suit, led the team through the facility’s entrance, the others moving with practiced precision behind him. F.R.I.D.A.Y. was feeding him real-time updates, scanning the facility for any signs of activity.
“Nothing on the scanners,” F.R.I.D.A.Y. reported. “But there’s a high probability the facility has been rigged with security systems. Be cautious.”
They moved deeper into the building, the air thick with tension. Steve held up a hand, signaling the group to stop as he spotted a flicker of movement down the hall.
Bucky stepped forward, his enhanced vision picking up more details. “Looks like they’ve got guards posted further in.”
Tony nodded. “We’ll go around. Nat, take the left flank. Steve, you and Sam take the right. We’ll meet in the central hub.”
The team split up, moving quickly but carefully through the darkened hallways. As Tony and Rhodey moved toward the central hub, they passed rooms that had clearly been repurposed—what had once been offices were now makeshift command centers, filled with equipment and weapons.
They were getting close. Too close.
As they reached the central hub, a chilling realization hit Tony. This wasn’t just a hideout—it was a staging ground.
Computer screens lit up the room, showing data that made Tony’s stomach drop. Blueprints, schematics of Stark Tower, and detailed maps of other key locations were spread across the screens. Whoever was behind this wasn’t just targeting Tony—they were planning to attack the Avengers directly.
Before Tony could process the full scope of what he was seeing, a voice crackled through the speakers, filling the room.
“Welcome, Stark. We’ve been expecting you.”
Tony’s blood ran cold as the doors to the hub slammed shut behind them, sealing them in. The trap had been sprung.
