The pain of sacred beasts.

400 years ago.

Seiryu, Genbu, Byakko and Suzaku received exceptional news. A new reincarnation of Luminus had been born in the Falavela Conceçao family.
Seiryu had incarnated in his uncle and had taken him with him so that humans would not try to use him like the previous times.

They lived in the forest of nightmares because in those times, the holder had an ease in using magic and thanks to that, living in the forest was easy.

The sacred beasts had believed... naively that humans would stop there.

The humans had used a spell based on one of Luminus' organs to warn them as soon as one of his reincarnations returned.

The boy was curious, much too curious. Not knowing where the child was, the humans had set up a whole bunch of devices to attract the child to them.  Festivals in honor of the divinity of light, public prayers and worship and much more so that the divine side of the child would be charmed by these attentions and revealed.
Each nation had tried with commitment in order to be the one chosen by the holder of power.
Years passed and there was only one place left where the child, who had certainly become a young man, was...  He was certainly lived in the forest with the sacred beasts. Their calm all these years being an excellent indicator.
So they organized even noisier parties near the forest in order to attract the attention of the young man.
It was during the meditation time of the sacred beasts, the young man went out to see the origin of all this noise and met a young woman with whom he fell in love at first sight.

She was breathtakingly beautiful and the man who had never seen a woman before was conquered, deciding to spend his life with her.

When a year passed, the sacred beasts came out of their meditation and discovered that the young man had left the forest.

Crazy with worry, they started looking for him and found him in Selafon as crown prince... the woman who had seduced him was none other than the only princess of the Selafon empire at the time.

The sacred beasts had tried to make him see reason but the young man would not listen. The sacred beasts had therefore had no choice but to give in despite their deep hatred for the human race. They did not want to hurt or anger the man.

But some time later, the woman became pregnant and Suzaku who was watching her on Seiryu's orders heard a conversation between the emperor and his daughter.

The one and only reason for this marriage was to make sure that she bore a child of the holder of the magic of light. This would make the child have it too so they would no longer need the father.

Even though, what humans didn't know was that this possibility was absolutely impossible.
The child would inherit some powers but the light magic would always be the exclusivity of Luminus through his reincarnations.

Suzaku reported it directly to his brothers who went to tell the man but the latter didn't believe them and sent them away... The sacred beasts had always had the sole purpose and reason for being to protect the reincarnations of Luminus so they had decided to act accordingly.

The woman intended to poison him during a romantic evening. When she wanted to give the poisoned cup to her husband, the sacred beasts emerged and it was Seiryu who slit her throat in front of her husband.
They massacred the emperor's court, extinguishing the legitimate lineage because those who rule today are distant cousins who took back the crown after this massacre.
The former holder did not hear it that way and cursed the sacred beasts carrying the lifeless body of his wife with their child in her womb.

"I curse you from the depths of my being. I hate you for centuries to come...you have taken away my happiness and I will never forgive you."

These words sounded like a blade to their souls. Years later, while the sacred beasts still thought they had acted for the best, the fact that the holder had no longer incarnated produced an incredible despair in their hearts.  Seiryu who had killed the woman had decided not to change into a human anymore…

“I’m sorry... You must have really suffered yet you only wanted to protect him…”

“I don’t know if it would have been wise to let him be poisoned... maybe we wouldn’t have felt so miserable after being cursed by the being we love more than our lives...”

“No you did the right thing... I am your ally and you will always have the peace of mind that I will never turn away from you because I love you and will always choose you first”

“Mylène.”

Genbu turned my face to kiss me full on the mouth. I responded to this soft and tender kiss, although borrowed from despair.

We separated for a moment before throwing ourselves on each other again as I turned completely pushing Genbu against the shelf behind.

“Mylène we can't... I don't think I can hold back and you must be tired...”

I captured his lips again and intensified the kiss by pushing my tongue into Genbu's mouth who let out a sigh trying to catch his breath.

“Please... we have to take the time to please each other, I don't want to hurt you.”

“I want you Genbu...”
