Fancy's Plans

The girl gasps in surprise, her face stunned, give her back her old position so easily and risk her plotting again?

Fancy understands the girl's reasoning and decides to cut it off.

"You're not so stupid as not to understand the new situation in this house, are you? Lady Mylène is now in charge of everything and her excellency, the duke gave her all the powers so I hope you now know who your allegiance should be to."

The girl swallows hard before looking up at Fancy.

"What should I do, ma'am?"

"Oh, nothing... Just tell us everything Gabrielle does, and I mean everything. Also, act normally, she must not suspect anything... understand this... You have an obligation to achieve results, it is important that you know that."

The girl lowers her face, clutching her garment in her hands.

“That depends on you of course... that is if you accept.”

“I accept”

She jumped up almost raising her voice which surprised Fancy a little but the girl's look made her smile.

“Well... you are hired then.”

“Thank you... thank you very much madam.”

Fancy gets up but the girl stops her.

“I know it's none of my business but I would like to know now that you are here as governess, who will take charge of being Lady Mylène's maid?”

Fancy freezes, it's true that she thought about it without really taking it into account but now that everything has been settled, she has to think about it.

There is no way she is giving up the place to anyone even if she has to kill herself the task.  Being Mylène's maid is her reason for living, she doesn't want Mylène to share with another what they have in common, that is to say whispers and dirty tricks.

"I'll continue to take care of her."

"But..."

"You can go back to your room."

The girl bows and then leaves for her room, rather happy with the outcome. She was able to keep her job and will be able to keep it as long as she wants. Her mother and brothers are counting on this money, if she is fired, they will die of hunger. She would be ready to do anything to keep it.

She meets Rohan in the hallway and greets him before walking past him and heading into the servants' quarters.

Rahan returns to his sister's room and sits down next to her.

"Are you sure?"

"Absolutely brother, I investigated her and found out that this girl is single-handedly feeding her mother and five brothers. She needs this job more than anything. Gabrielle no longer has a favorable status in this house, her future is rather uncertain, she will choose to follow us. She has no choice, otherwise, her family will perish. There is no point in dwelling on feelings, staying logical to survive; so she will do whatever I ask her to do."

Rahan looks at his sister, both stunned and a little scared, he didn't remember his sister ever being so manipulative and heartless.  She knows the girl's situation and didn't hesitate to send her away and then bring her back, playing with her emotions and manipulating her so that she has no choice but to give in to her and whatever she asks of her.

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

“It's just that... you've changed, you're...”

Rahan searches for words while scratching the back of his neck.

“More cruel?”

“No, I won't go that far but you don't seem to care about the feelings of others anymore.”

“You're wrong.”

“Huh?”

“I'm just realistic and above all I'm only ensuring Lady Mylène has a peaceful environment... I care about her feelings and if something or someone bothers my mistress, I get rid of them.”

“I didn't know you could be so devoted to someone”

“Don't worry when you know who Lady Mylène really is, you'll be as devoted to her as I am.”

“I guess... but won't this Gabrielle be suspicious?”

“I thought about it and no, she won't be. Since this decision comes from me, and the girl and I started working together on the same day, she'll think it was out of friendship that I kept her. The fact is that Gabrielle is trapped, she can't just confide in Karl or Edward anymore because those two look at her as guilty of Karl's state of health no matter how much love they may have had for her in the past. Moreover, her mother is not an option since she herself is very worried about her future in this house.  She will curl up on herself with no one to talk to, that's when her maid will appear like a breath of fresh air and with my advice, I'm sure that this girl will know how to gain Gabrielle's absolute trust, making the latter confide in her without any problem."

Rahan raises an eyebrow wondering what Mylène did to his sister, she speaks like a fucking conspirator.

"So you have planned everything down to the smallest detail"

"Yes... despite a certain malice that I recognize in her, Gabrielle is not very smart, no she is not at all. She will be easily manipulated and in the absence of her brothers' advice, she will be manipulated beautifully."

"You are scary."

The brother and sister talk a little more before Rahan leaves his sister's room and the latter goes to bed exhausted from her day.

"I hope my lady will not be angry with my plans."

She falls asleep quickly because she has to get up early to organize the Hosten home so that Mylène will be proud of her.
