"ugh, trigonometry is literally horrendous. such a nasty subject." sunoo shuddered, tossing his binder into his locker."agreed. i miss when we did multiplication." jungwon sighed.
"forget multiplication. i miss when we were still learning how to count" sunoo stated, shaking his head.
"unfortunately that's never gonna happen again, and it's only gonna get harder" jungwon asseverated.
"wow that's so comforting and makes me happy" sunoo sarcastically rolled his eyes.
"well at least we get a break for now. cheer up, otherwise your appetite will be ruined~" jungwon cooed, draping an arm around sunoo's shoulder, and receiving a "seriously?" look from him.
the two boys headed over to the cafeteria, and may or may not have cursed their math teacher's soul on the way.
"jungwon, sunoo! come sit here!" jungwon's older brother called, waving his hand. "sunghoon and ni-ki will be here in a bit."
"okay, be right there jake" jungwon replied, smiling at his energy.
"soo, how was class?" jake asked as the two younger boys sat down and opened their lunches.
"boring. i hope this school catches fire and all the teachers die in it. especially mr. jeong." sunoo said with a scoff.
"mr. jeong isn't that bad, i liked his classes" jake commented, mixing his ramen with his chopsticks.
"that's 'cause you actually like math" jungwon reminded.
jake nodded in agreement, as two other boys joined their table.
"what's up guys, the cafeteria actually has edible food today!" sunghoon exclaimed as he set his tray down, which contained rubbery looking tteokbokki, two soggy fish cakes, and a colourless seaweed soup.
"you call that edible?" sunoo said in disbelief. "i might actually throw up"
"well it's better than that stale ass white rice with freezer burnt kimchi we got yesterday" sunghoon replied, internally gagging.
"why don't you just bring lunch? you know we can just ask mom to pack two instead? there's always a lot left over anyways." sunoo told his brother.
"yeah, but your lunches are like too healthy or whatever" sunghoon complained, putting a piece of tteokbokki in his mouth.
"well at least it's way better than what you have here. and there's nothing too healthy about freaking bibimbap you weirdo" sunoo chided.
"...actually, you're right. this tteokbokki sucks." sunghoon said, contemplating whether to spit it out or take it in like a pill. "i'm asking mom as soon as we get home."
"then i might as well bring my own too" ni-ki added, sticking his tongue out in disgust. "i don't wanna be the only one conquering these disgusting ass meals everyday."
the others laughed at the fifteen year old's unintentional cuteness.
"aw, does ni-ki not like his food~" jungwon teased, ruffling his hair.
"shut up you're only a year above me" he pouted, his duck lips plumping up.
jungwon chuckled. "that still makes me older, doesn't it"
"hmph >:("
everyone continued to chat and enjoy their lunch (except for sunghoon and ni-ki of course. who could even chow down those sloppy fish cakes).
"so, does anyone wanna go to the park with me on sunday and like have a picnic and chill or whatever?" sunoo asked, hopeful.
"sorry, sunghoon and i have to pull an all nighter that night. we have an exam on AP human geography on monday." jake replied.
"and i have a dance competition. sorry hyung." ni-ki added apologetically.
that left jungwon. "i think i can go, i just have to check with my parents."
"good luck with that" jake lightly scoffed. "dad's home. it'll be tough to get a word out of them."
"ugh i forgot" jungwon groaned, rubbing his temples. "i hate how they're pissed all the time."
"you know you don't have to go, i'll just call it off." sunoo said.
"no, it's okay, i want to." jungwon assured. "i'll figure out how to talk to them"
a timid smile played at the corner of sunoo's soft, pink lips.
