sunoo was quite worried about jungwon when he didn't show up to school, but after jake convinced him in person that he was okay, and
jungwon told him over text that he would be there the next day, he allowed himself some relief. they had only confessed their love for a day, things couldn't be going wrong.

of course though, the assurances were all lies.

jungwon woke up after who knows how many hours of sleep. after texting sunoo at maybe 3pm, he passed out again up until his morning alarm clock rang. blinding lights streamed through the window as his parents loud voiced echoed from downstairs.

oh. his father was at home.

his head was still throbbing hard, in sharp, intense waves of pain. it was about twice as worse as the previous day. as he tried to sit up, the room violently tilted, dizziness crashing over him like a tide.

what the hell's going on with me? he wondered. it had never been this bad before.

he squeezed his eyes shut, breathing heavily as he tried to suppress the aching and nausea coiled tightly in his stomach.

suddenly, the urge hit him. he tried getting out of bed as quickly as he could, but as he leaned forward, a bitter, metallic taste flooded his mouth. panic surged through him as he covered his mouth, desperately tripping to hold it in.

alas, he felt something warm and thick slip through his fingers.

he glanced down, heart dropping at the sight of his crimson stained palm.

pushing through the dizziness, he forced himself to his feet, and walked to the bathroom to wash it all off.

it's nothing. he convinced himself.  it's just side effects. i can still go to school.

after brushing his teeth and getting dressed, he made his way downstairs, each movement heavy with exhaustion. he didn't run into his brother this time though, as jake went to school early for project work. as he carefully descended down the stairs, the raised voices of his parents pieced through the thick fog in his mind.

"— Listen to me once, will you!" his mom shouted, her voice laced with pain and frustration.

"NO. Why should I, he's the reason we can't live our life!" his father fired back, the argument escalating with each exchange.

"Why can't you just have a heart! it'll be over soon anyways!"

"GOOD, I DON'T CARE. About time it happened!"

the loud voices swirled around him, the vicious words mixing with the pounding in his head.

the spinning of the room became even more intense as his vision blurred with colourful stars. the last thing he "saw" was his mother running towards him in a hurry before everything went black.

"i'm afraid this is it. i'm terribly sorry"

"-what, no it can't be! you said he had more time!"

"it can't be guaranteed. he seemed to be doing okay, we can't figure out why his body suddenly gave up"

"no... please tell me this isn't it"

"i- i'm sorry mrs.yang"
